Ice Cream sold in theatre[edit]

As an American I found it really bizarre that the theatre sold ice cream right within the theatre during intermission. As in people were walking around and selling it out of coolers. Has this always been a tradition of Scottish theatre, where are its origins?

haunted[edit]

Edinburgh Festival Theatre, Nicolson Street: The theatre stands on the site of the former Empire Palace. It is haunted by a tall, dark stranger rumoured to be the famous illusionist Sigmund Neuberger, aka The Great Lafayette, who burned to death in a fire at the Empire in 1911.
