The Billygoat??[edit]

No possible english translation of El Carnero could be "The Billygoat", an animal which was not native to Colombia at the time of European conquest. Carnero, a masculine noun, means "sheep", or "ram". The editor who put that there was ignorant to the point of being deliberately deceptive. Its quite popssibly vandalism. It's a relatively common word and animal, and anyone who knows any amount of Spanish would know the translation. The main character of the chronicle is a shepherd, hence the title, and sheep were in abundance in Colombia in precolonial times. The Cementery[edit]
