Date of birth

The best indication of her date of birth I could find was at the end of a video clip of one of her performances dated oct 2007. Her age was stated as 6 years 1 month75.119.236.176 (talk) 19:47, 15 January 2009 (UTC)micro

  • Reply The sourcing is rather weak. Rather than add speculative information for the month of birth, it's better to go back to a vaguer statement. -- Whpq (talk) 20:04, 15 January 2009 (UTC)

This page tells us she turns 8 in August. http://blogs.e-rockford.com/askgeo/2009/08/17/756/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.70.142.166 (talk) 23:46, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

NPOV

This article fails WP:NPOV at spots. I have just removed "besides her extraordinary talent at the piano". Many people, including myself, think her talent is extraordinary, but the article needs to be written from a neutral point of view. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 03:44, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

The article is entirely neutral. What do you consider non-neutral, besides "extraordinary talent", which you have already removed? Goodvac (talk) 23:58, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, but I don't see any reliable source supporting the biased statement "of the more difficult, 20th Century genre, including jazz". That's awkwardly written and non-neutral (many don't consider it difficult and there's no reference to support that it's one of the "more difficult") - do you agree? --Bryce (talk | contribs) 02:25, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Agree, so I removed it. Anything else before we remove the NPOV tag? Goodvac (talk) 03:43, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
I think the article's fine now. --Bryce (talk | contribs) 09:10, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. I've removed the tag. Best, Goodvac (talk) 23:20, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
It seems that the best way to include such descriptions may simply be find a reviewer and quote them. Then you can say so-and-so stated in his review of such-and-such a date and publication stated thus or words to that affect. If someone disagrees with the assertion of that reviewer they can balance it out by quoting an opposing reviewer. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.235.247 (talk) 07:24, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Stub

I don't think this article is stub. It has very large amount of content. Do you concur? Chevy Impala 2009 (Sign me!) 03:15, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

It's no longer stub class. It's 2 or 3 steps above that.Micro2 (talk) 06:35, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Even if it is a stub she's only 11 years old. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.235.247 (talk) 07:19, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

She is now 14 gets 15 in a few days. So I really tried to update the stub. In the old version its nearly trash - sorry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 17:39, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

My version/ external links

Greetings from Germany — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 17:36, 27 July 2016 (UTC)

As I have tried to explain, we NEVER put External links into the bodytext of articles.
The bot which previously removed them from the external links section was quite right - YouTube is very rarely an appropriate, or reliable, source for information.
Interviews are not generally considered reliable sources - we are not very interested in what Emily Bear, says about herslf, we are only interested in what reliable, independent sources say about her.
The rules on the English Wikipedia are slightly different from those on the German, but you need to avoid ANY external links in the bodytext, and avoid interviews, be they on YouTube or anywhere else.
I also note that on my talk page you said "I know the persons" if that means you have a conflict of interest? you should not be editing the article at all - Arjayay (talk) 19:03, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
@Eifelochse: You reverted to a version where an IP user added a large amount of unsourced links. Please cite sources inline for these large swaths of new information if you have it available and if you could please proofread the changes as there were several grammar mistakes. Please do not do a direct revert so that you can review these issues and correct them. Thank you for contributing. Dane2007 (talk) 04:00, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

I was this user. I wanted to proof but most of them are serious!!!! , and official account , youtube links, so they were deleted. As I wrote on the bots ralk page some minutes ago. some proofs for the updated facts werecstill there (chicago ideas links) but the german Sat 1 docu is on youtube, the Dennis Green radio Interview is on,y on youtube, the interview with Steven Larsen is only on youtube, the Queen Latifah Gig is only on youtube. I really don't know what to do. I really wanted to update this article in the modtvserious way, with the most serious neutral!!! as possible (nothing is neutral!)) proofs, These are all vers serious journalists, musicisns, hosts. If you don't beliveve me ask them.

I really don't know what to do. Does wikipedia want a serious proofed article or not?

@Eifelochse: I suggest reaching out to the teahouse who may be able to help a little further with editing this article and explaining how to do the cites. Dane2007 (talk) 04:19, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

Some hours ago I thought. Hey..put all the problematic links in the external links field before updating the facts. Seconds after that - deleted... My suggestion -please reach out by yourself to thrm, you have all the information, there is alread an existing german article updated by myself,

English wikipedia has really to decide if they want serious articles or not. I know wikimdoes not like youtube but what would wiki do if the next presidential debate was only available on youtube?

I am too frustrated in the moment after running agaisrüt walls again and again. ;)

As you have all the information, links you could update the English article and put your nnsme under it ;)

I read here articles who deleted my work. They had really trash artiiles with less or no serious proofs and were awarded. Imearlier got an asnwer first hand information is reliable, only secondhsnd information wikipedia would be intersted in. Really. And this guy was awarded :))) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 04:32, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

When a webpage would write the earh is circling the moon -.oh great :)) If milions of pupils copies their homeworks. papers from wikipedia - they think - oh its very reliable. But as I just leaened English wiki is not! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 04:52, 28 July 2016 (UTC)

Moved this self-cited list of 55 performances from article

I removed this self-cited list of performances from the article as indiscriminate fancruft. It's OK to mention (or summarize) a few notable performances that have independent WP:RS cited mentions. It's not OK to have a list of 55 uncited and indiscriminate items. Softlavender (talk) 02:21, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Eifelochse

Eifelochse, you need to stop editing this article now. Your English is extremely poor and you are adding grammatical and spelling mistakes all over it. Furthermore, you are adding irrelevant, promotional, and overly detailed information. We already have a huge and difficult cleanup to do because of your previous spree of editing the article. Please stop editing this article directly right now. If you have any changes you would like to make on it, please present them on this talk page and let experienced and knowledgeable editors decide what to do. Softlavender (talk) 10:10, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

to make it simple I will put here in the future ( once in a month? or less) all the interesting links, informations and you can do what you want

Greetings

No, please do not do that. You still haven't learned even the most basic elements of talk-page posting. They have been explained to you and you have ignored them. So please do not continue, since you can't be bothered to make sense or be coherent. Please do not post links here; it is disruptive and non-constructive. Softlavender (talk) 12:53, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Where shall I then post the special links if e.g. someone writes something in the future which is not correct or even trash. If I write it on the writers talk page he/she can simply ignore it, here not! have to prove that. I won' t change anything in the article in other articles again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 15:05, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

I disagree with Softlavender. That link is extremely helpful, and I just added it to the article. This article sucks very badly -- it is shameful that this important young composer has such a haphazard and poorly researched article. If Eifelochse can help us find some good links to improve it, we should welcome his/her help. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:14, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

First studio album?

The intro says: She released her first studio album in 2013, produced by her mentor, Quincy Jones. But what about all the other albums listed? Are they not studio albums, as well? --Florian Blaschke (talk) 07:36, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

It is really a studio album in the art you don't find most of the times these days. Over a year it took rüto make it. All live analog recordings, mastering - no digital trash music software. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 17:43, 27 July 2016 (UTC)
I guess the previous ones are "independent" albums vs. "studio albums". This seems to be one of the Wikipedia terms of art that those writing about albums have agreed. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:35, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

First many thanks for the excellent editing!!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 04:36, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't know how her earlier albums were recorded. Diversity was recorded in spring/summer 2012 in LA produced by Quincy Jones in the same studio he produced Bad(Michael Jackson). Emily Bear played on a Steinway. Imdon't know the excact dare but I think there was also a Spotify event where Quincy Jones was interviewed by Bruno Mars. She played in front of the audience. Diversity was released by Concord records. So after some consideration they added some cello parts for some pieces. Thiswas recorded I think, in a El Paso Studio. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 04:19, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Her new EP "Into The Blue" was recorded in NYC early September 2015, the mixing also NYC October 2016. I don't know if it is an independent release or who produced ot. She by herself, or with some help by Quincy Jones. There was a prerelease in therecent days but as I have not got a CD yet, so I do not know the label etc. She is not listed as Quincy Jones artist in the moment but he still is her mentor and made promo on facebook for the prerelease. As her recent plans seem to be exploring the pop genre, and producing a pop album with her singing, with Quincy Jones?, .... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 04:33, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Revising the article

Starting a new section about this: the article is not in very good shape at the moment, it contains a lot of minor detail about individual performances, it is not very well organised, and too much of it is currently sourced to primary sources. Because the subject of the article is a minor, it's extra important to get the article in shape so that it at least meets Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. It would also be nice if the article weren't quite so difficult to read - some of that can be fixed by simply reorganising the material and creating sections, but it would be a bit of a wasted offort to do that before some of the undue detail has been removed. I think one question that has to be addressed is which of the many performances and interviews mentioned in the article are notable and relevant to include; one strategy might be to focus on those that are covered in secondary sources. Pinging some people who have edited the article recently and who may or may not be interested: User:Softlavender, User:Clpo13, User:Arjayay and User:Sro23. --bonadea contributions talk 14:05, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

I don't have any interest in the subject matter, but I do have an interest that the article not get any worse than it is now. It's a frustrating mess, and almost WP:TNT-worthy. The bulk of the problem additions seemed to occur with Eifelochse's edits (although Arjayay can correct me if I'm wrong). Softlavender (talk) 14:09, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
I have no particular interest in the subject, I came because of spelling mistakes appearing on my check-list, but got pilloried because I then reverted the 20+ External links that had been added into the body text.
Provided the Dates and performances section is removed, and the family trimmed, I'm not sure there was much wrong with this version before the SPA tried to shoe-horn every passing reference they could find into the article. The old version has coherent paragraphs, rather than the unbulleted list we currently have. It would have 18 references, to 11 sources, which appear to be reliable sources rather than the interviews and other primary sources currently used. - Arjayay (talk) 14:23, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
I support returning to that version. Softlavender (talk) 15:04, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

You can do that, but then its trash. But do what you want. Its not my business anymore. When someome says that my sources are not reliable. Are here only Fox News watchers or Trump Fans? Bye — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 15:09, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

"This article was provided with references by an Unreferenced articles project volunteer on 2008-12-23. If you edit this page, please build on the good work by citing your sources." I did that, but you..Yor handling of this article is a symptom, its the reason why nothing is proofed in the media in the moment. Everyone only tells his opinion, but nothing is proofed. If I don't like the proof, my only argument is, "Oh, Your argument is not reliablle." Everything is arbitrary. Good luck in the brave new world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 15:19, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Arjayay and Softlavender, I didn't mean to imply that either of you had a specific interest in the subject as such, but if you are anything like me, it's the messed-up articles about subjects you've never heard of that engage you the most - oh, all right, maybe it's just me. :-) But we all agree that the current BLP violating state of the article has to be fixed. Restoring an earlier version sounds like a good plan. Eifelochse, please try not to sound quite so combative. Wikipedia articles are worked on by consensus and discussion, and making random accusations against people is not a good way to make them listen to your arguments. Please take a moment to read the information about sources on Wikipedia that has been posted to your user talk page. Thank you. --bonadea contributions talk 15:29, 29 July 2016 (UTC)

Per the consensus here, I reverted to the version from July 19, but removed the "Dates and performances" section. --bonadea contributions talk 11:23, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
I have to say, I'm personally quite glad I noticed this article in Recent Changes - I might never have heard of Bear otherwise and it really is a pleasure to listen to her play. --bonadea contributions talk 11:33, 30 July 2016 (UTC)

Eifelochse, we cannot use wikis. We need references to third party news and magazine articles published by reliable sources. We don't want to use puff pieces, like the "catching up" article you cite above. We need actual print reviews of her performances with orchestras or on television. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:17, 8 December 2016 (UTC)

Sorry for the "high-point but at the ASCAP centennial awards evening the played on the same stage as Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Joan Baez, Sting - I think that is for every musician a high point. I remember a tweet from Mark McLean - kind of day of my life.

Eifelochse (talk) 10:22, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Moving forward

Eifelochse, I am happy to work with you to improve the article. The biggest problem that the article has currently is the large number of bare references. If you would like to work together, would you please list here the top 3 (for now) things that you think are missing from the article? If she always plays with the same trio, I would think that one of these is more info about the Trio and (just a few of) the most important concerts they have played. Also, if you can, would you please help fill out the bare references (urls) by adding (1) the name of the author, (2) the title of the article or work cited, (3) the name of the publisher, (4) the date of publication. Thanks -- Ssilvers (talk) 05:41, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

[Copied from Eifelochse's Talk page]: She perform frequently with the trio. Most of her concerts are solo or with the trio. Its her trio. Peter Slavov always bass, he seems to be a froend of family, in Stuttgart Mark Mc Lean played only the first 2 concerts, because he had an own concert on Saturday in Canada. The lasr concerd there wa also 2 times replacement because he had many gigs with Michael Feinstein. But Emily Bear references him to her trio, on her new EP, -- Eifelochse
We need published, independent third-part sources about the Trio. Peter Slavov is not a bluelinked person, so he cannot be an "associated act". -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:03, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I now posted a new reference for the Emmy Award, I know the policy in Englush wikipedia about youtube links after some experiences ;) but it was the official Emmy Channel account on youtube, the journalists gave some background information on the docu. And as I saw that you had linked the Home and Family Show youtube video, I thought.....Eifelochse (talk) 06:32, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

YouTube videos should be used rarely, only if they are official channels from authoritative sources, and *only* if there is not a third-party, reliable print source that verifies the information. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:05, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Today "authoritative sources" in times of horrible fake news --- very difficult ;) Btw. here some photos by her brother in a article of "The Independent", in times after presidential election...As I linked in an deleted link earlier - he won in 2015 an nationwide arts price for photography. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/students-form-protective-circle-around-muslims-praying-university-of-michigan-a7423591.html Eifelochse (talk) 07:16, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Article talk pages are for discussion of how to improve an article. Please do not post irrelevant materials, as it will make it more difficult for me to help you. This is an article about Emily Bear, not her brother. That link does not even state that he is her brother. If he is a notable person, he could have his own article. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:22, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Mark McLean would only be an "associated act" if we can give *references* (sources) that show that he has been playing with her for several years at important venues. -- Ssilvers (talk) 07:43, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Steamboat Springs Fesival, Dakota Jazz Club, Joe's Pub, Stutgart Jazzopen, Vibrato grill jazz and some more, her new EP..as she is only 15 - several years is a bit dificult ;) Eifelochse (talk) 07:50, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

But what are the sources? -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:57, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Wow, you are very good. Many thanks!!!! Eifelochse (talk) 08:09, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

But one sentence with Gershwin and New Haven Symphony Orchestra is enough ; She performed 2 times with them. She performed on December 2014 Gershwin with Performance Santa Fe ( former Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra )!Conductor Joe Illick, (my third Gershwin reference - Albuquerque article) samev venue as the Schumann first movement 24.12.2012. Short time before New Haven Gershwin, she had solo gig at Regattabar Boston Eifelochse (talk) 08:25, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I do not understand what your last paragraph means. Please explain. -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:57, 11 December 2016 (UTC)
I filled in a lot of refs, but there are about half a dozen that need author, title and publisher info. -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:59, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I think tthat one of the two New Haven Symphony is not needed, text is a bit confusing at this point., I am German but normally I have no problems to read english context. Emily Bear performed Gershwin, 2 times with NHS (first at Schubert Theatre, than at a High School?) than in November Winnipeg, than on December 24 in Santa Fe, where it was officially recorded. 2 years earlier, same place, same orchestra Schumann first movement recording. The Grieg is only on audio (it was streamed later on radio) because the Rockford Symphony as an union orchestra did not want it on tape ;)

I will look for more informations about the refs. Give me some time. Eifelochse (talk) 09:36, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Oh I just discovered that there is no mentioning of Art on Ice 2012. Olympic medallists etc. are skating to live music http://www.artonice.com/en/shows/past-shows/ http://vivamost.com/art-on-ice-2012-spectacular-a-must-see-show/ Bear took part in 2012, played e.g. Diversity on piano. Aliona Savchenko/Robin Szolkovy) (Germany) skated to the live piano, performance. I think they recorded it on audio because a few weeks later they performed it in the gala after their 4th World Championship (reference a bit difficult, gala performance on youtube with tv flash Emily Bear- Diversity (no official account) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpXU-sboE-c I don't think that there will be an article with mentioning of the music/composer ;) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 09:54, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I already linked this article http://oldnorthwestterritory.northwestquarterly.com/2014/02/rockfords-emily-bear-pianist-composer-kid/ as proof for Rockford Symphony 2013, but its useful for more proofs, it mentions many things, e.g, Art on Ice Eifelochse (talk) 10:34, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Now context of Gershwin and Clinton and the references are correct. Took some time - as a German - to unravel... Btw in 2015 Emily Bear Trio performed in Clinton Eifelochse (talk) 11:28, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

I cannot edit the refernces, the access date of last reference Dec 20, cannot be true - perhaps in Back to'Future ;) Greetings Eifelochse (talk) 12:05, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you. I will review these tomorrow. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:23, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

No problem, I corrected and added infos on Santa Fe concerts. Bear never conducted. I know there was an article where it was mentioned but she did not. On the evening one harpist got ill so she had to fill in some harp parts on the piece "Santa Fe" with her piano. If it was really planned that she should conduct????

as I wrote earlier Art on Ice should be put in, and the Jazzopen Stuttgart should be really extended. It was Bear's most important jazz performance. In her first concert she opened for David Sanborn, next day her own headline concert and on Saturday she opened for the french singer Zaz. (Rhiannon Giddens opened after Bear) German TV made a serious TV feature about her, broacasted in a culture program (btw. after a featute about the release of Amy Winehouse movie).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WidH9mx5Dns Bear was part of a 3hour docu show about the jazzopen. Bear's Schlosspark concert was broadcasted 2 times on german TV. Bear wrote two of her songs (The Old Office, Tiger Lily) for her Stuttgart concert. E.g. Old Office was composed during the rehearsals for Stuttgart concerts in a building in NYC called the Old Office. So compared to the rest it has really to be extended IMHO. I know that it was in Germany but compared to that, the Hollywood Bowl concert even her short gigs in Montreux were peanuts. This year Santana, David Gilmour(his only Europe concert), Van Morrison, Jamie Cullum performed on the Schlosspark stage. Eifelochse (talk) 22:47, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

@ssilvers the other pieces at first Santa Fe concerr were not unreferenced. see ascap link

  • "Peralada Suite
  • “Reunited” [live performance of Film Score]
  • Medley: The Love In Us, Plain Old Me, Journey To My Heart, Santa Fe (original commission)
  • Premiered with The Santa Fe Concert Association (2012)
  • Full orchestra conducted by Joe Illick"

Eifelochse (talk) 09:24, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

I have now added the links that you cite above that are acceptable. I do not see an acceptable linke for "Perlada". The medley that she played in Santa Fe is not of much importance. Do you have a good link that shows when she began playing with the trio? -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:53, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Peralada Suite??? or here http://mlebear.com/the-vault/ I think the first concert of the first concert of the Emily Bear/Slavov/McLean trio was the Steamboat Spring ConcertAugust 2014 in Colorado. In this concert they played their first version of My Favourite Things (on her EP), arranged rehearsed it just before the concert - her vimeo account! https://vimeo.com/103615077 Eifelochse (talk) 10:01, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

Thanks, but the Vault is not an acceptable reference for her playing the Peralada Suite with Santa Fe Assn. Wasn't there a review of the concert by a professional reviewer? It is not listed on the "resume" document. Perhaps it is not that important. Going to sleep now! See you tomorrow. -- Ssilvers (talk) 11:00, 12 December 2016 (UTC)
Please try to avoid trivia. Bear has played "Bumble Boogie" many times. The fact that the conductor prepared an arrangement is trivia. He is not notable, and none of the references you gave even supported the idea that it was played at the concert. Please only add information that is DIRECTLY supported by the refs you give, and make sure that the refs are WP:RS, not someone's self-serving webpage. -- Ssilvers (talk) 11:10, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

sorry but perhaps you are too tired., not notable Hahahahahah! sorry ;) May you pleas 0e listen and read, before deleting. He was nominated for a TONY award, he orchestrated Lady Gaga at the Oscars etc. He is in the moment one of Broadways top orchestrators. An the other link was a Connecticut NPR interview, woth one ofConnecticuts most serious journalists. Sometimes I habe doubt about some wikipedia editors. Yes I made mistake, but not in this case. Listen to the interview and rethink. Its an absolute joke. Sorry and Good Night :) perhaps first really look at the links before deleting, and before writing to me. A few times I tried to answer directöy but could not you wrote here before thinking. Eifelochse (talk) 11:21, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

He is not blue-linked, so he is not notable. His statement about Bear on his website is self-serving, so not very useful to us. So he orchestrated one of Bear's short pieces that they threw into the performance. If it was important, a professional reviewer would have written about the performance in her prestigious newspaper. -- Ssilvers (talk) 11:45, 12 December 2016 (UTC)

2011 is correct, in January 2011 Bear performed in Swiss For this gala event by Audemar Piguet she wrote Tutti Cuore and played it there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssu3U6VlKP8 In an interview? her mother told that some "mutual friend" told then Quincy Jones about her etc. In December 13.14./ 2011 contract was signed https://www.facebook.com/QuincyJones/photos/a.108321584630.92578.36465344630/10150460308824631/ Btw. Hollywood Bowl was after Montreux, just found this http://www.hollywoodbowl.com/philpedia/emily-bear Eifelochse (talk) 07:32, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Btw she wrote Diversity for the Dalai Lama event and played it first at the event mentioned in the hollywoodbowl link Eifelochse (talk) 07:42, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

I put the 2011 events in chronological order. The article should generally be in chronological order, unless something needs to be explained earlier or later. I had already seen and cited the Hollywood Bowl bio, but it is not a very good source, because it is self-written. We need independent sources. Where are the professional reviewers from major media who are reviewing her performances and compositions? We do not need any more self-written bios, press releases, amateur YouTube videos, Facebook posts and puff pieces by friendly interviewers. Foreign sources are ok as long as they are by reputable journalists at reputable newspapers and magazines. -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:13, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

As I stated earlier Bears problem in the US is, that through the Ellen Show appearances many put her in the prodigy cliche. Therefore it was a totally different experience for her in Stuttgart. I was at the Bic concert. She simply rocked the stage with her trio, 3 encores. Many people hadn't known her betore. Even more the day before - most of them wanted to see David Sanborn. In Germany she was asked by one interviewer - well known in Germany what she thinks about every time asked oh your so young and so great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DEJDkzILhk 23:00ff In her answer she made clear that she would like it more if people just recognized her as a musician -simple as that withouz this kitsch. (after the interview and her performance there is a short statement and discussion about her) At many US TV interviews I was literally cringing because it was so superficial. There is the german Kunscht SWR feature but its only on the official SWR youtube channel because of legal reasons public TV has to delete many thing in their media librarys, some of them they put in youtube. And its in german but Emily Bear answers in English. The problem with Quincy Jones is, for many of his artists, if he promotes them with an interview, the interviewer is more interested in Quincy Jones ;) I will look what I can find. It was kind of easier for Joey Alexander in the US.

http://jazzpages.com/kumpf/die-stuttgart-jazzopen-boten-2015-ein-vielfaeltiges-programm-1507141.html here Karl Farrent is cited, the trumpet SWR BigBand player of her Schlosspar gig". Einen „Support“ erhielt am selben Abend ein hoffungsvolles Wunderkind made in the USA, nämlich Emily Bear, geboren am 30. August 2001 in Rockford, Illinois. Eifelochse (talk) 10:28, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

This is not a review. I don't think it even says what she played, or on what date. It is just a quote by someone who performed with her. That does not help us. -- Ssilvers (talk) 10:44, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

He is also managing direktor of SWR Big Band which was 4 times grammy nominated, its a serious article, and they talk about the Schlosspark performances, in Bears case 11.7.2015 Eifelochse (talk) 11:11, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

What does it say Emily played at Schlosspark, and what does it say about her performances? -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:48, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Arbitrary break

I think we might be nearly done finding the most important information about Bear. As her career continues, of course, there will be more information. Thank you for finding these foreign sources. Please summarize (1) what each of these sources says about Bear (Does it contain a review of, or specific info about, performances?); (2) why you think it is an important source for our article; and (3) please tell me a little about what kind of source it is -- prestigious newspaper/magazine? etc.

Thanks, -- Ssilvers (talk) 10:40, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

I think your right, about the article status. The most serius are the ard/swr links. Its like abc/cbc/nbc even more. In the moment a journalist of ARD is turning the world of sports (Doping ;)) into, pieces - I think you heard of that. Please give me some time with the summarize. Eifelochse (talk) 11:16, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

OK, I am looking forward to the summaries. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:44, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Reviews:

Btw. What about her sheet music? Bear does not only sell CDs also sheet music. Should they be listed? Eifelochse (talk) 13:02, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

The music books are only really worth mentioning if they are best-sellers, or if they are reviewed by music critics. The Diversity reviews above are excellent. I took the two from the best-known sources. Two is enough for Diversity. If you see more reviews of her concerts or more recent performances, that would be excellent! Also, did Peter Slavov record Diversity with her? If so, we can mention that and cite the liner notes. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:52, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

No, Peter Slavon was not part of the recording, as you can see here in the Concord records video, Francisco Mela and I think Carlitos del Puerto? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XAkBhTxAdY at these recordings Emily Bear played on an Steinway Estonia concert grand Later also Zuill Bailey Cello https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juZSQ8988YU(El Adobe Recording Studio/El Paso). I think Slavov played first at the release concerts in LA Bakery and Le Poisson Rouge/NY. On weekend I will summarize the german and austrian links. Eifelochse (talk) 11:03, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

If the sheets were best sellers I dont know. They were published by Hal Leonard and as far as I know are used to this day by many young piano pupils. But I don't know how much was sold. But I think its remarkable at least to mention. German short review with confimation of Mela/Del Puerto, its a serious jazz media! http://www.jazzecho.de/aktuell/news/artikel/article:223450/emily-bear-klein-aber-oho

"unglaubliche Stilvielfalt" - incredible stylistic diversity

Some good additions. I filled out your references and moved the Stuttgart concert to the "External Links" section. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:27, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Because you wrote that her mother sung professional http://liherald.com/stories/Piano-playing-prodigy,4555 "Emily's mother Andrea grew up in the Five Towns and attended Ogden Elementary School and Hewlett High School. She also studied music at the University of Michigan, taught for a short time at Lawrence Middle School and also offered private lessons." Here a photo of her singing at Art on Ice After Show. http://vivamost.com/art-on-ice-2012-saturday-feb-4th-best-photo-memories/ I think somewhere I read her mother has a degree in "Musical Performance" (University of Michigan) and I think her grandmother Master Degree in piano performance? (University of Michigan"), at least she teaches herself talented pianists http://reprimandtheband.com/bios/john.html Eifelochse (talk) 03:53, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

The first ref is very helpful, especially about her grandmother discovering her talent at age 2 and her beginning to study with Rosario at age 4. It is a more specific ref than the Northwest ref that we had used earlier. -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:21, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

On her old webpage she had a photo with austrian Bundespräsident Heinz Fischer and his wife. If she met or even made a photo with President Bill Clinton during that Life Ball gala - I don't know. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_Ball. All in all the article seems to be OK. now. Eifelochse (talk) 08:52, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

OK. Much improved! You might want to add some of the info and refs to the German Wikipedia version. -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:35, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your excellent help!!!! I think it will take at least till January for new serious new, the official release. In the press release planning of an European tour is mentioned, so if I get new infos which are worth mentioning at wilipedoa I will post them here. Perhaps you may look from time to time. Please use Talk page; please do not throw questionable materials into the article

Please stop adding to the article references that are not WP:RS and overly detailed info. This Talk page is a better place to add questionable material, not the article. Please see WP:NOT. -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:00, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

sorry Eifelochse (talk) 08:25, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

I didn't want that but sometimes I feel as if someone try to make the mickey out of me, ....overly detailed Info ;) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jackie_Evancho There are many more overly detailed articles - and that is an understament. Perhaps wikipedia should start at some other articles and sticking to its own rules ;) In this form articles like that should be deleted if sticking by the rules. That wiki does not stick to its own rules.????? Btw the lenght of these articles is frightening. Yes articles about Mozart Bach, Beethoven but I think they are shorter on wikipedia. I know its off-topic. And I will delete this tomorrow,

If you read the White House link, it was more detailed. I didn't put any more details in - oh the date, but I think that was appropriate, if not -the link was just better. Eifelochse (talk) 09:06, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

You are correct that the WickedLocal.com link is better. I have put it in now. I am sorry for not paying closer attention to it. But the detailed dates are not helpful. If all the dates are given, the article becomes a list of dates. The most important thing that readers want to know is that it was in 2008, when she was still six years old. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:41, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

The Carnegie Hall - it was just a question how to handle this. It was not meant to stay here forever. The event with the Dalai Lama - I thought naming the correct name of event and proof it would be appropriate, but If not I have no problem with that. Eifelochse (talk) 09:06, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

The problem is that *neither* of the references that you added is a very good reference. One is just a press release, and the other is from the speaker's own page. This one might be slightly better. http://tibet.net/2011/05/thousands-listen-to-his-holiness-the-dalai-lama-on-compassion-at-university-of-california/ In any case, I have added in the press release, even though someone else might take it down. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:56, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

is that better? https://www.thestreet.com/story/11094512/1/nations-top-marketers-to-join-special-keynote-speaker-his-holiness-the-xiv-dalai-lama-at-third-annual-pttow-youth-media-and-innovation-summit.html — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eifelochse (talkcontribs) 22:07, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

Maybe a little. I've substituted the ref. -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:14, 17 December 2016 (UTC)

I really have problems with the diverse interpretation of rules at wikipedia. I know that normaly links should not be posted here, but its just a question of handling this. I don't think that we are both interested to this with private emails. And I know that normally this talk page should not be the place of such discussion. But I don't know a different way to interact. Eifelochse (talk) 09:06, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

This is a community of editors. We work by WP:CONSENSUS. But our content *policies* are consistent: WP:V, WP:OR and WP:N. If you disagree with something, you can discuss it at the appropriate Talk page. This Talk page IS the right place to have discussions about Emily Bear's article. What was wrong was throwing a lot of questionable material into the article itself. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:41, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

Her performance at Grammy party 2013: http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/1538510/quincy-jones-al-schmitt-honored-at-grammy-producers-engineers-party "Jones brought out two acts he is working with to back up his desire to keep jazz alive and play a role in the international music scene. He brought to the stage the five members of Blush, a singing group comprising women from the Philippines, India, Korea and Japan; he referred to them as "the next step after Psy." Prior to them, 11-year-old pianist Emily Bear, whose debut album comes out on Concord on May 7, performed two original pieces that deftly merge elements of Monk, Manilow and, for a few speedy bars, Meade Lux Lewis. ASCAP's Loretta Munoz reminisced about seeing Bear perform six years ago when she first signed with the performing rights organization. "She would do these dazzling things on the piano and then she's lay down and nap on the piano bench," Munoz said. "She acted like a five-year-old."Jones brought out two acts he is working with to back up his desire to keep jazz alive and play a role in the international music scene. George Benson was among those dazzled by her playing, giving the occasional shout of encouragement and midway through her performance he had his iPhone out to capture her appearance." Eifelochse (talk) 13:49, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

I don't think the fact that she performed at the producers' party is of encyclopedic interest. I feel strongly that none of these quotes is encyclopedic. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:44, 19 December 2016 (UTC)

User:Eifelochse, do you have any photos of Bear that you have taken yourself? -- Ssilvers (talk) 09:47, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Sadly not. Eifelochse (talk) 10:15, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

See WP:PERMISSION for information about using images in Wikipedia articles. If you did not take the photo yourself, it can be difficult. -- Ssilvers (talk) 19:42, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

If there is a photo... I am not interested in complicated stress and troouble. If people want pictures they can google them. Eifelochse (talk) 09:06, 16 December 2016 (UTC)

I have no doubt that the photo is OK for copyright, but the infos are not correct. Emily Bear posted this photo already on June 2012 on her fb. It shows her and Quincy Jones during the Diversity recording sessions in June 2012, here the facebook (June 23, 2012): "So excited to be recording - debut CD for Concord Music Group with the amazing Quincy Jones Producing. With Francisco Mela on drums and Carlitos del Puerto on bass . All original music - can't wait for you to hear all the new music!!" https://scontent-frt3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t31.0-8/fr/cp0/e15/q65/333351_10150963110096588_1436974875_o.jpg?efg=eyJpIjoibCJ9&oh=d2ecf24397d2675b2e2dc0996145952e&oe=5933915E If the original photographer edited the photo on May 2013? May 2nd 2013 , was just a few days before the release concerts in LA, Chicago, New York. However it shows Emily and Quincy in June 2012. It was made around June 20/21 2012. This other photo of them both she tweeted on June 21 2012 https://mobile.twitter.com/mlebear/status/215725348569096194 The photo posted here was used by her again also in March 2013 for birthday wishes to Quincy Jones on fb and twitter. Likely a few times more. So it was public the whole time. Eifelochse (talk) 12:15, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

Actually, the information you provide above proves that the uploader of the photo is not the photographer and has violated Wikipedia's rules by claiming the photo as his or her own work. The photo will eventually be deleted. --Ssilvers (talk) 19:15, 20 February 2017 (UTC)

I don't want to make a great discussion, but IMHO its more reliable - the review- -as many "reviews" made in casting shows, thats only promo or mostly scripted trash - if one get always a dollar for "you are a star" ... ;) , or citing unknown assistant professors ;)

All About Jazz review: The immediate charm of pianist Emily Bear is that she is a mid-teenager,,,a musically preconscious one at that. The 15-year old enfant terrible releases a brief EP, Into the Blue (her seventh recording) into an already crowded jazz trio market. Over five original compositions and one standard ("My Favorite Things") Bear demonstrates a capability well beyond her age, one that promises much. Supported by bassist Peter Salvov and drummer Mark McLean. Bear tears percussively through her short and tightly composed originals "Old Office" and "Je Ne Sais Pas," before showing her willowy ballad chops on "Araignee." "Tiger Lily" returns to up-tempo form, descending figures over a light, almost stride, beat. On "My Favorite Things" the pianist surprises with an emotional depth translated into a mature lyricism. Eifelochse (talk) 14:32, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
Good. I have added the ref and a quote from the review to the article. Thanks! -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:40, 6 February 2017 (UTC)

The five compositions of the teenager pianist are as follows: Old office (3m40), driven by chordological chords that refer to Dizzy Gillespie's A night in Tunisia; Je ne sais pas (5m05), of melody and beat in "bossa nova" climate; Indigo (4m30), theme also half "bossa", but with more pronounced melancholy; Araingnée (2m45) - "Spider" in French - an adaptation made by Emily of the soundtrack that made for an animated film about two disputed spiders to create webs inspired by famous works of art; Tiger Lily (3m40), theme that recalls Thelonious Monk's It's Over Now, developed by the pianist in a take-a-go with drummer McLean Eifelochse (talk) 04:14, 11 February 2017 (UTC)

Mike Greenblatt "Into The Blue (Edston Records) by pianist/composer Emily Bear is a thoroughly delightful trio romp that ends with a stunning interpretation of John Coltrane’s arrangement of “My Favorite Things” from the 1959 Broadway musical The Sound of Music. The five originals preceding it are buoyed not only by Bear’s darting mosquito-like zippiness but by her two stellar mates. Bassist Peter Slavov came out of his native Bulgaria to achieve greatness with Joe Lovano’s Us Five Band. Canadian drummer Mark McLean leads his own band and has laid down beats for a multitude of superstars including Billy Joel and the late George Michael. Together, they hum like a well-tuned automobile racing around curves, stopping on a dime and never coming up short. They both seem preternaturally attuned to this gifted pianist’s detours and sharp lefts. Into The Blue is the follow-up to Bear’s Diversity debut, produced by Quincy Jones, who discovered her at age seven. Oh, did I mention she’s 15?"Eifelochse (talk) 04:23, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

jazzweekly review - George W. Harris "(...) Miss Bear has an approach and directness similar to Hank Jones; direct, harmonically clever but not pretentious and sophisticatedly swinging without pretention. She has a confident touch on the minor mooded “Old Office” and shows she can (no pun intended) bear down and show muscle on “My Favorite Things.’ Her composing skills seem to have an affinity for Latin moods, as she gets creative on the samba “Indigo,” snaps with the rhythms section with joy on ”Araignee” and is erudite yet playful on “Tiger Lily.”She doesn’t feel the need to go into long explorations, allowing her composing skills to speak for herself. Growing better with each impression." http://www.jazzweekly.com/2017/03/emily-bear-trio-into-the-blue/ Eifelochse (talk) 22:55, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

This publication is not a bluelinked magazine, and we already cite three reviews, which is probably one too many. If it were The New York Times, I'd cite the review, but I don't think this adds anything. George W. Harris is not this reviewer, but a dead soldier. The review is also poorly written: "sophisticatedly" is not a real word. Skills do not have affinities. The language is "hipster jargon". "Herself" in the penultimate sentence is incorrect, and the last sentence is only a fragment. -- Ssilvers (talk) 00:26, 5 April 2017 (UTC)

Artist in Residence Stuttgart

Its in the Stuttgart Zeitung link and in the Sparda Welt link you moved to EL, there at 0:16ff, when Mr Schlensoog, who organizes and founded? Jazzopen Stuttgart introduces her at Spardawelt he uses the term "Artist in Residence" Eifelochse (talk) 20:21, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

What does the sentence *exactly* say? "Artist in Residence" is a nearly meaningless term. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:27, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

a real Artist in Residence like the Stadtschreiber in the german town Mainz is paid by the city of Mainz for one year? and lis living. The he produces his writings lyrics in town, gives classes etc. Eifelochse

So, obviously, she was NOT a real Artist in Residence. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:05, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

In the interview in the 3h show Schlensoog told that when he discovered Bear he was in contacht with QJ Jones management and they decided that is was a too short jump for only 1 concert, so they decided 3 concerts , her first german concerts, kind of "Artist of Residence", they made promo with her, the SWR produced the feature (about her) "she was kind of the face of Jazzopen 2015. Eifelochse

"Kind of" = Not encyclopedic. All of this is of interest in an article *about Stuttgart*, or maybe a book about Bear, but is too trivial for an encyclopedia article that covers her whole career. This article will keep getting longer and longer as she gets older, and her activities at age 14 will become less and less important. -- Ssilvers (talk) 21:05, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

Here feature official channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WidH9mx5Dns by me translated geeman background voice. "That she has the swing without that generally known nothing in jazz make sense one can hear immediately. But who actually composes her songs. Emily Bear, her producer and mentor is none other than Quincy Jones. She shook hands with the US president when she was 6 and played in the White House. How is it to be so young and so famous? She will have three concerts in Stuttgart, the last this Saturday evening. We not only meet her at a concert we are allowed to acompany her and her mother for one day. "Playground - for kids under 14". No, of course not on a playground - although Emily is not 14 yet. The TV tower seems to be a good place for a teenager visting Stuttgart and who wants to reach the top. Emily finds it OK and the view is really fine but the symbolism - no, she sees (think of) that differently. So down from tower and into a piano shop. And yes,....this is a good place for her. In a jiffy (in no time) the room is filling with Bach and Rimski-Korsakow, actually Emily is a classicaly trained concert-pianist. She cannot remember a moment without piano but anyway she likes more to look into the future. She really loves composing for movies and would like to do more in this genre. So...why don't we try this out. How does it sound in a movie if the teen heroic character rides in a fast elevator on a high tower and looks down in summer wind. Time to think ...not necessary. No, Emily Bear really don't need to worry about her future. Surely the young woman won't be a prodigy anymore but she will still be a miracle (wonder/marvel)." If the Stuttgart festival had made an official announcement: "Emily Bear is the Artist-in-residence of the Festival this year", then we *might* say so, although it would still be of questionable importance to this Wikipedia article. But they did not. We make it clear that she performed in more than one concert, and we give a link to the festival program. What else does the reader of Emily's article really need to know about Stuttgart? I still would like to find a good review of the "Emily Bear Trio" at a major venue, and any reviews, by well-known music critics, of her classical orchestral pieces. -- Ssilvers (talk) 22:04, 14 December 2016 (UTC)

The fact that she attended the ceremony is not of importance, unless she gave an important performance there, and even then maybe not. -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:25, 15 December 2016 (UTC)

Bears intro by Rudetzky and her performance is at 1:14:00ff in the embedded Live Stream in the link, but I don't know how long it works, Bear was guest in Rudetzkys Radio "Seth speaks" show on Sirius end of 2015 with her mother, as Andrea Bear and Rudetzky are childhood friends, as he tells also in the intro. But the interview was never made public after some broacasting. Therefore I never put it in the article as there is simply no reference link, only one or two tweets)Eifelochse (talk) 16:16, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

I removed it because he is not notable, and it is information that is trivial and tangential with respect to Bear's article. (Interestingly, he is not even mentioned in Rudetsky's article!) The fact that the subject of an article gave an interview is generally not of encyclopedic interest, unless the interview is notable enough to be written about prominently in other media or is, say, a cover article of an important magazine or other source, or unless it is cited for the purpose of revealing some important fact about the subject. More concise is generally better. -- Ssilvers (talk) 16:33, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Emily Bear and jazz and other genres.

Thanks @ssilver for correcting this.

Jazz is her main genre in the moment. She plays classical music, she even composes in this kind of genre, but she will neber be - as it seems now and it would also be to late now - a classical pianist.

In a interview talk with radio host Dennis Green - sorry only on youtube uploaded by him - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlfXmP6PASQ a she used first time the phrase - "classical is like putting a saddle on a wild horse" - for her. She likes jazz more and thinks that it fits her better.

At the Chicago ideas meeting there was a group talk at the end https://www.chicagoideas.com/videos/generations-of-genius she explained there that one of her role models was Vada Klaplinsky who realized when Bear was 7 after some time of classical teaching that Bear was really interested in jazz, film music and composing. So Kaplinsky made contact with jazz teacher etc. at Juilliard.

Playing classical music is kind of learning for Bear to have perfect technique but its not her goal for future as main living. See comment of Mary Sauer in WGN docu feature. She said that Quincy Jones wanted that Bear continued her classical training because he saw the value of it.

If someone at Bear's age wants to become a world renowned classical pianist he/she has to train 6h per day only classical and nothing, nothing else. And with great, great, great luck there will be sucesss.

There shall be a pop album this year or later. Classical is one of her genres but only one genres of a few. Jazz is in the moment her main genres e.g. her EP,release.

here already playing jazz on radio - WFMT NPR?? 20.9.2008 ?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYqYf_UfIu0

Eifelochse (talk) 16:02, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

It is too early to say that Jazz is her "main" genre. Both classical and jazz are her main genres. In the past couple of years, Bear has repeatedly performed classical music, as well as Jazz, with such orchestras as New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Performance Santa Fe Orchestra and Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra. In 2015, she won an ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award for her classical orchestral piece, "Les Voyages", and also composed another classical orchestral piece, "The Bravest Journey", for Rockford Symphony Orchestra. Also with Rockford Symphony Orchestra, she performed Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor. Bear has *not* announced any intention to stop composing and playing classical music, or even to focus primarily on jazz. We cannot predict the future, and we must not speculate about it here on Wikipedia. See WP:CRYSTAL. We can only state the facts that we can see from a balanced view of the evidence available to us, which are that currently, and for the past several years, her two main genres have been classical and jazz. To help keep the discussions on the talk page readable, I am asking you again to please keep your formatting much more compact. You do not need all those spaces and stubby paragraphs above. -- Ssilvers (talk) 20:11, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Oh you missunderstood me. I did not want the classical genre to be deleted. It was just meant as support or some arguments if someone deletes the jazz genre again. My only argument about her classical is that she won't be a old fashioned typical classical pianists. If she had wanted to reach the hights of pianists like Martha Argerich she would have had to concentrate for years now 6h 7/24 on this as and as I said with big, big luck, I would as I pointed out put the genre film score/film composing in. All her classical stuff is more or less film music. Even her jazz pieces. Araignée was orginally a short movie score. Bravest Journey is a kind of movie score, it was inspired by videos of interviews with Rockford veterans which she also scored for the event. To this day Bear wrote no real tradition classic stuff, perhaps the choir piece "Peace" -and know again a choir peace (St. Antioch Church) Her earlier works were Easy Listening piano pieces. So film music would be really appropriate although she has won no Oscar yet ;) Yes I know today everything is labelled classical, pop, cross over, country. Yes Bear played classical concerts btw. she wants to play in next future only short pieces perhaps some Bach (video interview on youtube) But when it comes to composing her "classical" work is better labelled as film music. So genre: classical, jazz, film music, easy listening, would be correct. In future perhaps also pop or independent! and then not only pianist perhaps also singer. We have to wait. Btw, for a few years now she is a collaborator/part of lyricist Amy Powers team, perhaps also musical in the future, here mentioning https://americansongwriter.com/2012/02/songwriter-u-l-a-songwriter-series-amy-powers/ "I’m lucky to be doing a musical for the State Theater of Austria with composer Martin Lingnau. Russ DeSalvo, Jeff Bova, Carly Greenberg, Arden Kaywin, Jose Cancela, Jesse Weeks…not to mention my youngest collaborator, Emily Bear – her music is just all heart. " I hope my text/format is now OK. Btw. Happy New Year! Eifelochse (talk) 04:48, 3 January 2017 (UTC)

Happy New Year. Yes, your format is good, but your message is much too long. Again, please see WP:CRYSTAL. *After* Bear has composed several major films that have received published reviews in major newspapers and magazines, we can add film score to her genres. It was the stream of a TV Channel, sub ABC ?, but I agree as its only a pre pre casting of American Idol and very local...but theoretecally the link may gets relevant in a few month if the winner or the two runner ups gets national attention or even win American Idol So wait :)Eifelochse (talk) 21:06, 1 September 2017 (UTC)
