Untitled[edit]

There is a wealth of information and references in this paper: [www.sigmaaldrich.com/sigma/product%20information%20sheet/p8203pis.pdf]. It has a description of each of the buffers and further references.

Divalent cations[edit]

One of the issues Norm Good was trying to address was the influence of buffer on the concentration of divalent metal ions such as Mg2+ or Ca2+. Phosphate buffers were widely used in biochemistry, but would form complexes with divalent cations, making them less available for enzyme reactions that often require Mg2+ or Ca2+, and often adversely affecting the process under study. 96.54.32.44 (talk) 00:10, 28 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not clear which buffers were promoted by Good[edit]

It's not clear which of the "twenty" buffers are Good's. He originally (1966) listed 14, two of which were older buffers for comparison. In 1972 23 were listed. The current page lists 32. I will try to clarify which are which. Ewen (talk) 16:36, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
