Season 2 episode count[edit]

Has it been confirmed anywhere what the episode count for the second season is? The entry here [1] on the California film commission website would suggest 16 episodes, especially as there's a listing for a Good Trouble 2.5(Which suggests additional episodes ordered). I wonder if the show went from 13 to 16 episodes?. It may be worth keeping an eye out for any websites that confirm the shows order & return date. Esuka (talk) 19:00, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Esuka: I don't see where it listed 16 episode count on the pdf link that you provided. I don't think there is a confirmation about the episode count for the second season yet elsewhere yet. — YoungForever(talk) 19:58, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I was looking at the season budget listed on the page. TV shows on broadcast & cable generally are between $2-3 million per episode(though it's not uncommon to see 4-5 million per episode prestige shows, or old expensive long running ones), less so for shows on Freeform. So the $37 million quoted between both show listings for season 2 would suggest at least more than 13 episodes. I found it odd how no entertainment website appears to be talking about the shows order or return date, despite there clearly being more than eight episodes for this season. @Esuka: I don't think we should include the episode count until there is an actual confirmation. — YoungForever(talk) 05:06, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
According to the shows lead star Maia Mitchell the show returns in the Winter along with a two hour Christmas special, see [2] Is it worth doing a separate table for this special? I wonder if Freeform will just give it an episode number and keep with the current season. I guess this explains the extra listing on the California Film Commissions website for the show, it was just the special. Esuka (talk) 21:03, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
From popular TV series articles that I have seen, there is a separate table for a special when there is enough info with a reliable source for the table. — YoungForever(talk) 22:10, 1 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

About Specials[edit]

I want put out that: if a network count them as a regular episodes then we should put the episode number them as such the case like Big Mouth (TV series)#Season 3 (2019), for "My Furry Valentine" episode" and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (TV series)#Episodes, for "Chapter Eleven: A Midwinter's Tale" episode; we shouldn't put the episode number if they do NOT count specials as regular episodes such as List of The Big Bang Theory episodes#Special, for "Unraveling the Mystery: A Big Bang Farewell". — YoungForever(talk) 07:00, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

These are regular episodes, they're just being called specials because they're Christmas related. The Big Bang Theory example sounds like a discussion sort of episode? I don't watch the show so I have no idea. I think the only question is will Freeform call them "Episodes 9 & 10"? or will they be labeled as "Episodes 1 & 2" specials? If you read the other topic I brought up that that Freeform had been granted tax credits for the specials per the "Good Trouble 2.5" listing. That to me suggests they intend the episodes to be a part of the second season. But we'll know closer to the time I guess. Esuka (talk) 20:27, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
According to Bradley Bredeweg's tweet, he called the specials "With a little surprise in between." That doesn't implies the specials as part of season 2 though. Of course, we should know for sure if they are or not once they release more info or when they air. — YoungForever(talk) 20:56, 3 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly, Freeform doesn't promote or handle their shows that well. I think these Wikipedia pages & the networks ratings would be better if they were more forthcoming with fans about how things stand. Some tiny shreds of information and a small amount of promotion before these specials air doesn't really bode well. But the wait continues for more information. I would count them as regular episodes as well, if they could towards the storyline. They can always include a "Specials" subheader in the Season 2 table using {{Episode table/part}}. Note that specials such as List of The Big Bang Theory episodes#Special are a retrospective episode; that is, a look at the series from a real world view, not a storyline-contributing episode. Also note, however, that there are always special cases; "A Christmas Carol" is not an episode of Doctor Who (series 6) but is included in the table, and List of Jane the Virgin episodes#ep99 is a "behind-the-scenes feature rather than a contributing episode to the series' fictional storyline" but is officially categorized as the 99th episode, hence its inclusion. -- /Alex/21 11:26, 20 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
