Not set in Cluj-Napoca[edit]

The article claims "Romeo is a middle-aged doctor employed at a local hospital in the Romanian city of Cluj-Napoca". This film is not set in Cluj. The street scenes are not at all from Cluj, the credits show it was filmed in Brasov County, and the girl’s parents mention that the daughter will possibly move away to Cluj if she doesn’t go to study abroad. Also note that the Romanian Wikipedia article gives the setting as simply "a small town in Transylvania". I have changed the article accordingly. CRCulver (talk) 22:56, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Although the film was shot in Brașov County, it is set in Cluj. The characters make reference to this. (Mungiu commonly shoots where is convenient rather than where things are set. RMN for example is set in Ditrău but was shot in Rimetea.)
For a reference, The Criterion Collection article on this specifies the location as Cluj as well:

Here's a Guardian review also specifying it as Cluj:

Another one from the New Yorker:

I think the confusion may be that the film is "in Cluj" in the way that a film set in Naperville may be described as being "in Chicago." It is, but it's not.
Technically, Graduation is set in an adjacent town within the metro area of Cluj. 2600:1700:9540:16CF:5A1B:6E4E:4E64:3DD6 (talk) 01:09, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
