Terminology[edit]

I've edited this article, rather inelegantly I admit, to try to make clear that "groundskeeper" is barely used in British English, and also that "groundsman" (by far the more commonly used term here) is most certainly not confined to golf courses where sport is concerned - football, cricket, rugby etc venues all have them:

Type of site Groundskeeper Groundsman
All sites 757,000 [1] 278,000 [2]
.uk sites only 973 [3] 104,000 [4]

There's also the distinctively Australian usage of "curator" to mean a groundsman, especially in sports such as cricket, which I've mentioned in the article but couldn't find a way to set up a useful Google search for. The article could certainly do with a section dealing specifically with groundsmen/women in sport, but I'm not sure how to write it. Loganberry (Talk) 00:14, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional Groundskeepers[edit]

I removed the statement that Hagrid is the groundskeeper of Hogwarts because Hagrid is actually the Gamekeeper. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.61.119.111 (talkcontribs) 22:44, 2 August 2007
