The Cat[edit]

"5 players and a hungry cat" - re start of Chris Wilder's tenure. What's the cat's status - Shay Mouser, match-day mascot, coach's pet...? Is he getting fed ok these days? Plutonium27 (talk) 16:27, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One of the most shocking written article's I've ever had the misfortune to read on Wikipedia. The history section is permeated with Journalistic style nonsense that wouldn't look out of place in a tabloid. Will be swiftly removing any of this from the article. Jazza5 (talk) 19:45, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
still poorly-written and organised. I've had a go at improving it. 2 Questions:
1. Why do all these football club related articles seem to use the plural to describe a club or team, e.g. "The club were relegated"? It's grammatically incorrect
2. HTFC was placed in Division 3 in 1958 but promoted from Div.4 in 1967. It must have been relegated, when? Someone with access to better sources than me (in provincial New Zealand) could maybe answer that Chrismorey (talk) 00:11, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
1. That is standard British usage - see WP:PLURALS and WP:ENGVAR. To those of us in the UK, "Halifax Town was relegated" would sound completely wrong............
2. Halifax were (sic ;-)) relegated in 1963 - see The Football Club History Database, the only source you need on the league histories of English clubs -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:58, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:HalifaxTownAFC.gif[edit]

Image:HalifaxTownAFC.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
