Series not season[edit]

I have noticed many people referring to television series as 'seasons', especially in the last decade. I suspect that this is an American import. Certainly only a few years ago Australian television seemed to be to use 'series'. In any case, the official web-site for Harrow uses 'series' and not season (e.g. 'Series 2'), and so I have replaced the usage of the word 'season' with 'series' to conform with MOS:ENGVAR.Deonyi (talk) 12:03, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure whether that is really a good idea. The problem with series is certaim ambiguity as it might refer to the show as a whole or to a season. Another point to consider here might be to have standard form for the infobox rather than one changing for every variant of English.--Kmhkmh (talk) 14:57, 6 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The use of 'series' in the season sense is almost always qualified by a numeral, which helps to reduce confusion. There may be some confusion when there are multiple series with the same name, like 'the first series of University Challenge' vs. the 'remake series', but this is usually fairly obvious in the context. Given that the infobox already has the option to use either series or season, I don't see the issue in catering to the appropriate variety of English. Latin title — mistake or pun?[edit]

One episode (3.01) is labelled with the title "Marta Semper Certa Est" . A similar phrase (Mater instead of Marta) is a Roman legal principle with its own article: Mater semper certa est. On the other hand, "Marta" does not seem to be a word in Latin, only a name (of a person or a river, see wiktionary:Marta and wiktionary:marta).

The cited source ("Australian Television Information Archive") does use the "Marta" spelling, so if it's a mistake then it seems to be upstream of Wikipedia.

Extent of syndication[edit]

Have not looked for a source but can personally confirm the series is in Lithuania (2022) on Fox, with Russian dubbing, under the name 'Доктор Хэрроу' (Doctor Harrow).—Q8682 (talk) 15:27, 3 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
