Pronunciation

Two points. 1. Do local people pronounce the r? 2. DOes anybody say /hart-ul-pool/ as suggested by the second pronunciation? Dadge (talk) 22:48, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

Current squad

The links for Hugh Robertson and Thomas Butler need disambiguating. --Nzd 18:15, 30 October 2005 (UTC)

External Links

I noticed that a forum was added to the external links section, so I've arranged the external links into 2 sections. 1 for normal sites and an other for forums. Any disagree with this decision? Englishrose 19:06, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

A note on British English

British English should be used for articles on Britain related topics. Likewise, American English should be used on articles pertaining to American topics. For a clearer example, please visit this sub-section on the differences between their usage. However, is" works better than "are" with the term club as it is a singular and not a plural noun. (Compare with the word team which is a plural noun) --Siva1979Talk to me 03:15, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Badge

What's the significance of the second badge which has been rather randomly placed below the infobox with a caption........? ChrisTheDude 14:16, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Club History

As per the request, I have expanded the Club History section for the period 1970-99. Not sure if there's too much there now, if there is feel free to edit it down. I'm a bit shaky on the use of references, so if anyone would care to sort them (Relevent links etc in the References section) please do!

The history section is now rather long. I would suggest that it is moved into an article in its own right with a precis and link from the main article. It could also do with sub-headings to separate major events/eras in the club's history. Daemonic Kangaroo 05:43, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

History of Hartlepool United F.C.], this will be the main history page...we'll work together on trimming the one on this page and improving the main article. Englishrose 10:05, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Hartlepool2.gif

Image:Hartlepool2.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:46, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Spamming

Please people, when editing wikipedia, make an edit that contributes towards the site. Adding funny names and stuff like that may seem 'cool' but it is not. There are people who rely on wikipedia for its true purpose - an encyclopaedia. Thus content on a page should be suitable of an encyclopaedia entry. Rexfan2 (talk) 19:16, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Editing required

Not sure why, but the article currently goes from 'Early years' to 1972. I can't help, don't know anything about the club, so over to a fan.... I actually came here to find out what the correxct name for the club is: I'm sure they used to be listed as Hartlepools United. Can anyone expand? Ta. Pollythewasp (talk) 10:16, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, this needs an explanation. It goes from West Hartlepool to Hartlepools to the present name without providing any explanation. Can anyone help? --John (talk) 14:53, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
Was asked to comment by John. All I know of the history of the club comes from their website. West Hartlepool was an amateur club which ran briefly alongside a newly formed (in 1908) pro club Hartlepools United, so called because it was supposed to represent the two boroughs of Hartlepool and West Hartlepool. Soon West Hartlepool FC disbanded and the new club took over. In 1968, the two boroughs amalgamated so the club was renamed Hartlepool AFC. Renamed again, this time Hartlepool without the 's' United, in 1977, which is the current name. Just had a look, and it is covered in the History of Hartlepool United F.C. article, though apparently not in this one. It'd be nice if there was someone with a bit of knowledge of the club who could boil the history article down into a balanced summary version for this article; perhaps they did, once, and it's gone downhill since. hope this helps, anyway, cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:36, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Is there a manager?

Over at List of English Football League managers, we have had Chris Turner listed as a caretaker manager since 15 December. It is stretching the definition somewhat to have him as caretaker after this amount of time and a close season having passed. Is there any evidence that there is an ongoing search for a manager? Is there any meaningful way in which Turner is not listable as the manager, apparently for the foreseeable future, albeit with additional responsibilities?
