Infobox[edit]

The infobox policy states:

The use of infoboxes is neither required nor prohibited for any article. Whether to include an infobox, which infobox to include, and which parts of the infobox to use, is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article.

An infobox on persons helps to clarify their high-level bio and provides a better snapshot in the hover-over on linked articles.

I added one, User:IJBall removed it, "No justification for an infobox in this case" - but no justification is required to add one, and it improves quality? (also, additional biographical details (DoB) were sourced and added to qualify the infobox) 167.179.160.133 (talk) 06:00, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In general, infoboxes with only 3 or 4 fields filled in are frowned upon (as not useful), which is the case for this article. At this point, you have to demonstrate that there is consensus to include one here, and I doubt there will be. In addition, you added an unsourced DOB, which is effectively a WP:BLP violation (as per WP:DOB). --IJBall (contribstalk) 06:03, 2 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A followup point here – as per this, "The use of infoboxes is neither required nor prohibited for any article by site policies or guidelines. Whether to include an infobox, which infobox to include, and which parts of the infobox to use, is determined through discussion and consensus among the editors at each individual article. (emphasis mine) So, adding an infobox is not "required" and does not necessarily "improve [article] quality" – it will at some articles, but not others. This is one article where an infobox is actually a "net negative", and so one should not be added at this time. So, in fact, a "justification" for adding an IB can be asked for, and the resulting discussion may decide that there is no justification for adding an IB. --IJBall (contribstalk) 18:25, 15 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
