Animation?

The /Film source says the series is going to be animated, but I don't remember Feige saying that in the original announcement and Marvel.com doesn't mention it being animated. - adamstom97 (talk) 03:25, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

You're right, Feige didn't mention it, but I went off of /Film because they did, so I'm not sure why they would call it animated since Feige didn't say it. I'm honestly not sure myself if it's live action or not. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:56, 13 December 2020 (UTC)

It feels like a reasonable assumption to made, so if the official sources don't say then that may be it? Concept Art with Drax

Is Kristen Lepore the head writer too?

Per the press release as published on Futon Critic, it states The writer/director is Kirsten Lepore with no mention of Little. I'm curious if the MovieWeb source perhaps was referencing this article or other mirrors that pulled from our article? The fact that Lepore is noted as the writer for this lines up with her prior writer/director credits on shorts, but does raise questions. Lepore could have written the shorts with Ryan Little, and since A. C. Bradley said Little was writing this, that holds weight. We don't actually know who is the head writer, and it very much could be that MovieWeb and other sources took Little as head writer from this article or mirrors of it, as you said. I would suggest adjusting it to say Lepore and Little serve as writers, and maybe stave off saying who is the lead or head writer until we get more details. I was already thinking of doing a c/e, and it could be During the Disney+ Day event in November 2021, Kirsten Lepore was announced as the director and an executive producer of the series. At that time, Ryan Little, a writer and script coordinator for What If...?, was revealed by that series' head writer A. C. Bradley to be writing for I Am Groot. El Capitan Theatre premiere

the El Capitan Theatre will exclusively screen the I Am Groot short "Magnum Opus" before specific showings of Thor: Love and Thunder from July 18–24. "Magnum Opus" plot

Hello! I'm planning to add the plot of "Magnum Opus" and treat this as the first shorts (or episode since we are going to use the {{Episode table}} template) since it was already shown to the public between July 18–24 (although in select screenings during Thor: Love and Thunder). Also planning to retain August 10 as the original release date with a note stating that it was screened in advance on those July dates or something related to it. What do you guys think? Brad Winderbaum and canonicity

As stated in the article, Marvel Studios Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum has said this series is set after the main events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2014, suggesting "this is canon". Given I'd prefer an actual Marvel executive over just a writer/director (James Gunn), I would like thoughts on this. I don't think Gunn ever said the show wasn't canon, it was always part of the MCU. He just said that it wouldn't necessarily be tying in with the movies directly. @SirDot, adding to the issue with I Am Groot's placement in the MCU timeline, Kristen Lepore now stated in an interview with D23 that the shorts take place between the first Guardians of the Galaxy film and Vol. 2 post-credits. Winderbaum and Lepore have a conflicting statement on where the shorts start, but given the first episode's synopsis, I'll go with Lepore here. This will have changes with the two Guardians Wikipedia articles and I Am Groot's Lead section. What do you guys think? Centcom08 (talk) 09:10, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

@Centcom08: I think the first short will be set between Guardians 1 and Guardians Vol. 2 (given Groot will be taking his first steps), but the rest will he after Guardians 2. — SirDot (talk) 14:42, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

Synopsis of each short

Apparently, The Direct publishes a report about the synopsis of each of the five shorts, including all of their titles, their order of release, and comments on each from Lepore, from a Disney official press release (which I can't find it from Disney's side like from their media kit, etc.). Found it. And you won't believe what I also stumbled upon: Disney's extremely well-hidden press site ! It's practically a treasure trove of high-res images and written materials (including press kits for most Phase Four films, which could potentially be valuable). Individual episode articles are unlikely because these shorts are like 3–5 minutes long, but there is some commentary from Kristen Lepore in The Direct article in the above discussion. — SirDot (talk) 19:35, 3 August 2022 (UTC)

New fast forward opening?

This might be a bit FORUM-y, but for anyone who's watched the new shorts, they once again have Groot fast forwarding over the logo, but more like jump skipping it. I was going to add this article regarding it, and I could have sworn for the first set, it was more like a "sped up"/VHS style fast forward, not the jump skipping. But when I went to rewatch a season 1 short, it had the same opening as the season 2 ones. Am I going crazy misremembering this, or does anyone else recall the "sped up" version? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:13, 7 September 2023 (UTC)

This is kind of odd. I suppose they just wanted to have a variety of logo changes. I know they're using that sped up logo fanfare for all of their D+ productions, though this change caught me off guard. I'm sure adding information on this to the article would not hurt, as to explain it to others who may also be equally confused or taken aback at first.
