Ileodictyon[edit]

Looks like this article needs to be renamed to the above spelling. I'm not sure how to do that. Any takers? Sasata (talk) 03:42, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

It is not clear wether the sheath of the unhatched basket is edible, or the actual basket inside the unhatched sheath is edible? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.90.127.52 (talk) 07:24, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I'm aware, the whole thing (sheath and unhatched basket) is edible, but I'll see if I can find a reference. Beastiepaws (talk) 09:13, 12 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question[edit]

The first paragraph states that the species is found in Australia, NZ, Tanzania and South Africa, with a reference for Australia only. Landcare Research lists Australia, NZ and Chile as its native distribution (cited in the Distribution section). GBIF shows some records from Europe and S Africa. What is the definitive distribution of this species, and what reference should be used (GBIF, Landcare, other?)Stitchbird2 (talk)Stitchbird2

I tend to attempt to find a scholarly article or book to reference regarding distribution. I don't have an issue using Landcare as they are obviously a reputable institution but they are definitely New Zealand focused. I try to avoid citing GBIF as they are an aggregator and although can be useful errors exist in their data. Saying that I do use GBIF as a last resort if I can't find any other sources of info on distribution. - Ambrosia10 (talk)
