Writing a riff is the work of a few seconds?[edit]

There's no way to say how long a riff took to perfect, someone could have worked perfecting it for an indefinite amount of time. I took that bit out. JamieH (talk) 13:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Section removed[edit]

The following was posted by an anonymous user:

As with the Reformation Post TLC, no previous band members are acknowledged in the writing credits, despite the fact that several songs were written by the previous line-up before it dissolved (Senior Twilight Stock Replacer is audibly cut from similar cloth to the songs on Reformation). Indeed, where the Fall are concerned, writing credits are known to signify something other than who actually wrote the song (Keyboardist Dave Bush: Some of the things I was credited for I'd never heard before and didn't have any keyboards on them!).

It often seems that Mark E Smith, acting on his famous Protestant work ethic, hands out credits according to who works hardest - the personnel who record, tour and promote an album are therefore given credits in preference to those who wrote the songs. The idea gains further credence on examining the credits for Imperial Wax Solvent - the presence of bassist Dave Spurr looms quite large on the album and he is credited generously. The guitar of Pete Greenway is very marginal, more usually a textural element than a musical one, and he is given a mere 1/5th of two of the songs.

I've removed this as the entire content is either pure speculation or irrelevant to this album - comments from a group member who left over a decade ago cannot be attributed to this record and the rest is arguable - Dave Spurr was in the band when "STSR" was written, who is to say he didn't write the music? Especially as said music amounts to a two-note bass riff. Whilst this is an issue that several ex-members have brought up over the years, the discussion of it does not belong with any one album and certainly not this one, the vast majority of which has only ever been performed by the recording line-up.
