The result of the move request was: Moved to jacksfilms. There's a general mood for moving to the common name, just not clear in which form. Since the lowercase seems most used and preferred by the subject, I'm picking this one. No such user (talk) 15:23, 20 January 2021 (UTC)


Jack Douglass → Jacksfilms – jacksfilms is the WP:COMMONNAME over Jack Douglass. He is rarely referred to by his legal name independently from his username in references. From the bio, he does not seem to have done much professionally apart from his YouTube username. Even the article itself notes that he is "better known by his online alias jacksfilms."   • Please consider MOS:TM / WP:TITLETM. I see cited sources with headlines containing "Jacks Films", "JacksFilms", "Jacksfilms" and "JACKSFILMS", and his Twitter page pops up in a web search as "Jacks Films (@JacksFilms)". Ordinary English would presumably be "Jack's Films", and "JacksFilms" would be the typical non-spaced form. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:35, 21 December 2020 (UTC)

      • Yes, the Twitter page itself has "jacksfilms", but if you look at how it shows up in the list of search results on Bing, it is listed as "Jacks Films (@JacksFilms) • Twitter" – it must be something in the page metadata. And his Instagram page shows up as "Jack Douglass (@jacksfilms) • Instagram photos and videos" (although I'm not arguing for it to stay at "Jack Douglass"). — BarrelProof (talk) 00:01, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
        • Considering the discussion and the mix of forms in sources, I oppose the proposed all-lowercase title, and I see nothing in MOS:LCITEMS, MOS:TM, WP:TITLETM or MOS:CAPS that would support it. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:08, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
          • WP:TITLETM is the convincing argument here. Independent sources mostly seem to use JacksFilms and Jacksfilms interchangeably, but slightly favor the latter spelling. RoxySaunders (talk) 01:38, 25 December 2020 (UTC)

  • Disagree. Comment Online nicknames (channel names, social media handles, etc) are not exactly the same as pseudonyms. While YouTubers may be commonly referred to in some sources by their channel's name, that doesn't necessarily mean that JacksFilms is a pseudonym or stage name for the person Jack Douglass. The majority of articles about notable YouTubers (at least those whose names are common knowledge) seem to be named after the people, not their YouTube channels.     • A lot of the names listed on that page are redirects or pipes from a subject's given name to an article under a channel or user name (e.g. Ethan and Hila Klein, Felix Kjellberg, Ian Carter). It's also worth mentioning that several people listed there mainly operate under their given name or as part of a larger group, which their given name would then redirect to. As such, those would be the WP:COMMONNAME in that instance. Additionally, the fact that the list is sorted alphabetically by first name rather than last (unlike most lists or categories) should be telling enough.       • Good point, didn't notice that. If we do change to the channel name, I think it should be stylized in all lowercase (jacksfilms) per MOS:LCITEMS. As of now, this style seems to be used consistently across his Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram accounts. RoxySaunders (talk) 02:52, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
  • Support without feeling too strongly about it. 'jacksfilms' is undoubtedly his WP:COMMONNAME so it'd be a sensible change, but at the same time, it's not that rare to see his actual name be used -- he himself does often use 'Jack Douglass' in his videos -- so it's not a massive deal.
