Lost in the Desert: uncertainty and incomplete data about date[edit]

In the list of Uys' films, Lost in the Desert was dated 1971 until just now; but this appears to be incorrect, and I have changed it to fit with the incomplete information I have about the date of this film.

Information about this now very obscure film is quite hard to come by; but, as far as I can make out, the Afrikaans version was titled "Dirkie" and came out in 1969, and the English version was titled either "Dirkie Lost in the Desert" or "Lost in the Desert" and came out at least in Australia in 1970; so far, however, I've not been able to find out what year it came out in English in countries other than Australia.

I will update the article further if I find out; but I also request anyone who has definite information to supply it, please. I've created an article on "Lost in the Desert", a film I remember fondly from my childhood and have an interest in. M.J.E. 10:20, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article does not comply with guidelines & marula scene[edit]

The article goes into unnecesary detail (eg, that Uys lived in an A-frame, and his complete eddress!)

Although Beautiful People is supposedly a 'documentary' the 'famous' marula scene(s) was/ were staged! It would take a lot of marula to get an elephant drunk! Also, not all the species of animals seen falling about are species that would consume fruit. There is a clear difference in terrain between where the marula trees are and where the animals are bumbling about. --Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 21:10, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

his last name pronunciation[edit]

If you ever watched All the Way To Paris (it's on Youtube btw) the first thing you see in the opening credits is this caption: A Jamie Uys (pronounced 'ice') then some time later the same thing is repeated again. That probably means the pronounciation should be changed to /aɪs/. I think he knew how to say his own last name after all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ilya-42 (talkcontribs) 19:34, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
