Name in Chinese[edit]

I've added Jing Lusi's Chinese name, 陆思敬 (lù sī jìng), to her article (sources: this profile, this BBC News video, our interlang article), but the way she transliterated it is odd, so I thought I would mention it here:

She is referred to by English-language media as "Jing Lusi", which in Western name order means her given name is Jìng and her surname is Lùsī. Converting this to Chinese name order (reverse of Western), her name would be Lùsī Jìng. This word order matches the name I listed at the start.

However, Lùsī (陆思) is not a Chinese surname. There are very few multi-word surnames, and this is not one of them. Lù (陆) by itself is a surname, though. If that is her surname, then her Chinese name should be broken up as Lù Sījìng, not Lùsī Jìng, meaning her Westernized name should be "Sijing Lu".

I'm not sure why Jing Lusi's name is different from the expected order. Maybe a mistake in paperwork when coming to the UK (common by officials spelling foreign names), or deliberately to make her first name easier to pronounce? Or I could be completely wrong about all of this and her surname really is Lùsī. Iiii I I I (talk) 09:33, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There was a company director, based in Southhampton, called Sijing LU, whose DOB agrees with that on the Chinese Wikipedia (which is, strangely, not included on this page). From the address given, I figured out that her father is called Maozu Lu (and her mother is probably Yun Ling). So you are correct about her real Chinese name. It could be that Jing Lusi is just her stage name (although strange that she didn't make it Lusi (Lucy) Jing). The article should probably be edited to include her correct birth name, as anyone with knowledge of Chinese names may be interested in this. I was certainly puzzled by the way the article in yesterday's Guardian [1] was referring to her. JRawle (Talk) 21:41, 11 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
