Extremely confused[edit]

So is the 11th earl his grandfather, and thus John's father? Or is the 11th earl John's grandfather, and thus the 15th earl's great grandfather? Are there generations between that did not bear the title? How many? 71.198.127.97 07:37, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is easier to work out from Wikitree. 88.97.108.45 (talk) 16:23, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Donne of Kidwelly, not Don[edit]

There is mismatch between pages, it should be Donne, not Don. I think a typo or pasting error?

Sir John Donne of Kidwelly, was a Picardy-born Welsh diplomat for the House of Yorkwho visited Bruges at least once, in 1468 to attend Charles the Bold and Margaret of York's wedding; how he became acquainted with Memling is as uncertain as when he commissioned the triptych. 88.97.108.45 (talk) 16:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even more confusion, but Donne is how you translate from the Welsh, Dwnn. Sir John "John Dwnn of Calais and Kidwelly" ap Gruffydd aka Dwnn. He was a descendent through Joan Scudamore of Welsh Prince Owain Glyndwr. 88.97.108.45 (talk) 16:42, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, there seems to be a lot of discrepancy. Who decides which version to use, or if different pages use different spellings? 88.97.108.45 (talk) 18:18, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
