Under the description of Restricted Rock, Paper, Scissors, the final line states that the stars are unofficially traded at a value of one or two million. In the anime, Kitami offers Kaiji a star for five million. He also claims that this price is only one million more than official price. It would be ridiculous for the officials to buy the stars at such a high price if the players were trading them for one or two million. The officials don't buy them. Other players in need of stars buy them. Also, Kitami isn't exactly selling stars out of charity. Page name[edit]

Given all the sources claim the manga title is actually Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji, and the tv series is just Kaiji, this article really should be moved to Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji. Per the manual of style for anime and manga, the title of the article should reflect the original version. Also, the article should discuss the original version first, followed by any adaptations; I've rewritten the lead to reflect this. —Quasirandom (talk) 01:13, 19 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Manga length and current status[edit]

I've noticed a couple of times that the length and status of the Kaiji manga have been updated but then later reverted citing Anime News Network as a source, which lists it as ended in 1999 at 13 volumes.

ANN's listing is incorrect and out of date - the Kaiji manga is still currently running, and the 38th volume was released in tankoubon form on the 28th of December, 2007.Midshift (talk) 13:50, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, to my knowledge ANN's listing is correct. However, the key is that there are three Kaiji series, the first of which covers thirteen volumes and the first season of anime. This is the edition that ended in 1999; all subsequent Kaiji anthologies were started as sequels, but I don't know how long they are. I'll try to make a note of this in the info-box. There are three series, each of which is 13 volumes long and completed. (Series three finished in April 2008.) A fourth series is inevitable, given the ending of the third series has Kaiji driving off with the Chairman's son(!!!), with talks of a final gamble for the long night.

Also, omake at the end of EPISODE 26 from Fukumoto himself states interest in a second anime series, obviously covering the second manga series, and is likely to also span 26 episodes, although no further information has been released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.215.251.166 (talk) 09:16, 14 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error in E-Card section?[edit]

The maximum bet was never established as 10, Kaiji simply has 30 millimeters of space to bet with until his eardrum is ruptured. What Kaiji asks for later is if he can bet using the entire length of the needle, which is 45 millimeters.Shiosai (talk) 13:53, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Title[edit]

"Tobaku Mokushiroku Kaiji" is an incorrect name for the anthology known as "Kaiji", since each of the Kaiji series go by a different name - series II isn't called Gambling Apocalypse, for example. And if there is ever going to be a season II of the anime it probably won't be called "Ultimate Survivor" either, it'll have a different title. So, we should just return the page's introduction name to just "Kaiji" and note that it includes three different manga serials with different names. Terek (talk) 08:33, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I propose to create a separate article for Mr. Tonegawa: Middle Management Blues and move the Episodes to that page. I believe it is a different series and although it is a spin-off, it has its own website TVアニメ「中間管理録トネガワ」公式サイト. I'm quite happy if someone else wants to do this.
