The "too short" template[edit]

I'm not sure how many people have this article on their watchlist, but out of principle I'm not going to correct this because of the "tag and run" issue. While I agree one line is too short for the lead, a tag of this nature does not particularly help the reader. It just makes it ugly, less of the hit and run tagging, please. Use tags for serious issues (i.e. referencing). The JPStalk to me 23:41, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First/second cousin to Paul McCartney[edit]

This article claims that Kate Robbins is a first cousin once removed to Paul McCartney, although the article for her sister, Amy, claims that she is a second cousin. Neither of the claims are sourced, so which is correct? Jammycaketin (talk) 00:03, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

They are both correct, they are both 2nd cousins They are the daughters of a 1st Cousin

Date of Birth error[edit]

I went to school with Kate and we were both born in August 1958 - that makes her 52 not 50.Penzance157 (talk) 21:43, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

August '58 is what the BFI database has down as her birth date. It's the only neutral and vaguely trustworthy source I can find. Crisso (talk) 00:47, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can only say my information comes direct from Kate and I spoke to her a couple of hours ago.

In which case you need to be mindful of WP:No original research and WP:Conflict of interest. —C.Fred (talk) 02:41, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Nothing seems to be particularly reliable as far as birth date sources are concerned so I've removed it altogether. Derivative sources like BFI database and IMDb just aren't really that reliable. And according to Kate's Twitter feed she is Kate, not Katherine, so I've removed that also. Crisso (talk) 03:27, 20 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is the email I just got from the BFI explaining the different pages and why they show different dates. The one I quote shows the date as 1962. If you now accept this please re-instate the birthdate I put in.

to me Dear Alan

You have found two instantiations of the BFI website.

Explore is the new one, which takes a live feed from our database and includes the updated date of birth changed as per your information.

The Film and TV database (FTVDB) is hosted on the old one, that can no longer be updated and is in the process of being archived. As we haven’t yet transferred all files and functionality into the new framework, we are keeping the old one running as back-up. However, plans for taking it down are in process and we expect a shut-down shortly.

Hope this helps, Gabriele — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alan7483 (talkcontribs) 00:00, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt she was born in Aug 62 - this would make her 18 at the time of her hit "More Than in Love" and 17 at the time of Eurovision, which seems unlikely (not impossible of course, but I don't think she was that young). I agree with the above poster that it was probably 1958. I'll see if I can find anything.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 08:22, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And found. Birth records for the years 1958-1962 registers only one Kate Robbins (Kate not Katherine or variations)- August 1958 in Kent. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 08:38, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
1958 it is. Here's more proof. Crisso (talk) 21:35, 11 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

First appearance on record[edit]

This article appears to be missing what is probably her actual first appearance on record in 1973 (at the age of 15 I'm assuming) as a backing vocalist on the Grimms album Rockin'_Duck. GRIMMS was an offshoot band from The Scaffold which of course included Kate's cousin Mike McCartney, then professionally known as Mike McGear (so despite her tender age at the time it's entirely likely to be her - some coincidence, if not). I have the record and a Kate Robbins is certainly listed in the credits. It's a small detail in a reasonably large article, easily missed, but if correct it completes the picture.

Anyway, someone may want to follow this information up and if it proves accurate add it to the article. HippyGumbo (talk) 07:19, 13 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
