Fair use rationale for Image:Seal la puente ca.png[edit]

Image:Seal la puente ca.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I think this is silly. A keen sense of the obvious ought to suffice. ;Bear (talk) 05:19, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dubious etymology[edit]

True, modern Spanish has 'puente' as masculine. And we do have to wonder why this one is anomalous. But what happened to the discussion about this dubious gender issue? Is not even the person who tagged it going to say anything? ;Bear (talk) 05:19, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing dubious about this at all: See the Real Academia dictionary. AdeMiami (talk)
I should have explained in my previous comment that the abbreviations "Era u. t. c. f. Dialectalmente, u. c. f." expand to give "Era usado también como femenino. Dialecticalmente, usado como femenino", that is, "It was also used as feminine. Dialectically, used as feminine". AdeMiami (talk) 09:36, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Local issues[edit]

La Puente or the unincorporated areas (i.e. Valinda) surrounding the city has some gated private communities where millionaires live in them. The local economy hasn't stabilized in the 1990's and 2000's after witnessing a decline in business venues in the older section of La Puente during the recessions of the 1970s and 1980s.

Despite the 90-some percentage Latino population, there are some east Asians and white Anglos, although the US Census designated persons stated having any Latino background in addition to Anglo and other race as "Latino". La Puente has a high number of Mexicans, but has many Puerto Rican and Cuban-American residents.

Alike La Puente, all the Covina and San Gabriel valleys are primarily Asian and Latino, while some African-Americans and white Caucasian/Europeans live in the more affluent subdivisions in the foothills and county area jurisdictions. La Puente and much of the eastern half of L.A. county is just as socio-economically diverse. Mike D 26 (talk) 07:02, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed under the "Top Employers" section that the City of La Puente itself is not listed. Is this becasue the city actually doesn't have more than 32 employees working for it? That's the number of Jack In the Box restaurant employees, which is at the bottom of the "Top Employers" list. Or is this simply an oversight and someone forget to put the City of La Puente on the list. It seems hard to believe there are not more than 32 people working for the city; this includes the mayor, city council, scores of administrators, clerks, garbage men, librarians (if the city runs its own libraries), and other types of local employees. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.251.112.134 (talk) 20:08, 1 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
