Origin of the name[edit]

I am surely not the only one who wants to know about the origin of the name. Especially naming him after someones FULL name, is very remarkable. So: Who was/is Leonard Kniaseff? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:9E8:84E5:A200:25B6:D1D6:9D8B:F48C (talk) 16:48, 13 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As I was doing research for my school project stumbled across this. It is the lake but tells about the person you are inquiring about.
"The lake is a caldera of Mt. Leonard Kniazeff. It was named Lake Leonard in 1956 in honor of Leonard Kniaseff, a mining prospector, who became the first general superintendent of Samico when the company opened its Masara mining operations after the war."

Lake diameter value probably wrong[edit]

It has a 203-kilometre (126 mi) diameter caldera lake called Lake Leonard.

There is this source for the value: http://www.phivolcs.dost.gov.ph/html/update_VMEPD/Volcano/VolcanoList/leonardkniaseff.htm but this is unrealistically large.

For instance https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Kniaseff gives 4 × 5 km2 caldera size and 8 hectare lake size.

Openstreetmap indicates about 1 × 2 km2 lake size, in the shape of a half moon. ~~ ---- — Preceding unsigned comment added by KlausFoehl (talkcontribs) 08:35, 24 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
