Improving the Episode list[edit]

I suggest improving this list, making it more like the Sopranos list of episodes (a featured list).--MistaTee 15:10, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Episode notability[edit]

All of the episodes of this series fail the notability guidelines for television episodes. The way for these articles to be improved is through the inclusion of real-world information from reliable sources to assert notability. That is unlikely to happen, and these only have certain bad aspects (though all may not apply) like containing overly long or one sentence plot summaries, trivia, and quotes. Per that, they need to be a small part of this list.

If there are no objections, these will be redirected soon. Otherwise, discussion will take place here. Please remember that this is not a vote. If you like the information, that's fine and dandy, but your opinion doesn't really count towards anything. The only opinions that do count are ones that that lean towards the inclusion of real world information. TTN 23:38, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Objection - many of the episodes DO contain production information and connections to "real world" material when appropriate. Also the episode pages contain expanded plot details, while the summary list contains very little information and no "spoilers" or other notable information. The Shield is a well-written series praised by critics and has won several awards. I believe that gives it notability. Indeed, it is more consistent throughout the series than the Sopranos, which became watered down over the final 2 or 3 seasons and yet it contains separate entries for each and every episode.--MistaTee 02:16, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They are not sourced, they are trivial at best, and most seem to be original thoughts based on what most people would think as obvious. The list entries can always be improved as time goes on. The fact that the show is notable is irrelevant. Notability is not passed down to lower topics in most cases. Eventually, the Sopranos's episodes will be redirected as well if they cannot assert notability. TTN 02:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

At least some of the summaries on this page matches copy on the back of DVDs of The Shield word-for-word. What assurance do we have that the content on this page is GFDL-compatible? Honestshrubber (talk) 06:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Given the controversial nature of TTN's inbound merging, and the fact that these episode summaries suck, opting to hide major information instead of disclosing it, I am thinking about splitting back to episode articles where possible. Thoughts? Phil Sandifer (talk) 14:28, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Series music?[edit]

The Shield has always had a good soundtrack. But a lot of good music has come out since they released the 19 track disc. Anyone know about the recent tunes? More specifically the one that they're playing in commercials for the series finale? Paladin Hammer (talk) 04:33, 20 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Last episode summary[edit]

This has got to be one of the most confusing, incoherent pieces of text I have ever read. Someone who's watched the episode should really rewrite it from scratch. 217.132.75.155 (talk) 18:54, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose the episodes I nominated should be merged as there is little third person sources to suggest notability. Dwanyewest (talk) 20:55, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For reference, Dwanyewest is talking about Pilot (The Shield) and Family Meeting (The Shield episode). Jafeluv (talk) 10:38, 24 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notability[edit]

I'm curious to see that only one or two episodes of The Shield have been deemed notable enough for their own pages when every episode of, say, The Simpsons or Family Guy is somehow notable enough to warrant a page. I'm not suggesting either approach is necessarily right or wrong, but it would be nice if Wikipedia could have some measure of consistency and not simply be a collection of various petty fiefdoms of "information" with each one having wildly different standards than the next. If Shield episodes are truly not notable enough to warrant pages so be it, but I hope that notability isn't simply a function of how many fans a television series has.--172.190.15.231 (talk) 03:57, 22 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
