Tagged for tone[edit]

I tagged the summaries for tone. The problem is that they are all written as if advertisements for the upcoming episode (what you'd find in a TV guide) and actual summaries of what happens in each episode. The fact that many of them end with questions (e.g. "What will they decide to do?") is an obvious indicator that they are written in an encyclopedic manner.SQGibbon (talk) 05:38, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Number of seasons[edit]

As a recent editor noted, HGTV.com lists 10 seasons, not 8. I changed the infobox to reflect this, but the article will need some extra attention to make everything line up.

One issue: while I know the edit was well-intentioned, don't put editing notes in the article itself. It looks terrible—save that for the talk page. 72.200.151.13 (talk) 13:13, 15 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I read the season/chapter listing and tried to match it up with the one given on HGTV.com. The one on HGTV.com is strange. Although it lists by season, and the last season is at present #11 , the episode numbers are way off. Example: season 7 sequence has episodes 1,2,3,and so on to 13, but then suddenly list 23, 53, 63, and 92. It makes no sense but the listing in the article doesn't tell us that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:2422:9949:1AD:2B7D:BF27:9DEF (talk) 02:11, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What this seems to say about the show[edit]

I have read the section "Format" and the way it reads is as a description of a fictitious soap that revolves around two main characters (the designer and the realtor), with the same kind of plot every episode but with a different family and, perhaps, different contractors.

For instance, there are paragraphs 3 and 4 "Common themes and issues ..." that suggests a standard presentation for the designer of unforeseen costs of renovation, problems arising during work, and such that, in the real world, are unlikely to arise quite so much. The standard for the realtor is problems finding properties in the same area and so on. There are issues that arise with the homeowners that add to the "dramatic tension".

If that drama and quasi-fictional structure is what the program is about - as opposed to a straightforward documentary style program that shows how things can be achieved - then I suppose the article is accurate. But I think it needs to be made clear. After all, we accept that so-called reality shows are scripted ( even though some or all viewers might believe they are not) because without a script they would not attract viewers (and, therefore, advertising revenue), and articles should be accurate and not supportive of a fiction being presented as a fact. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:2422:9949:1AD:2B7D:BF27:9DEF (talk) 02:02, 19 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Seasons organization[edit]

Right now this article is very confusing for someone who comes to it. The list of episodes does not follow the standard wikipedia formatting. I am suggesting converting it to the following set up:

No. Episode name Original air date Victory
Hilary David
1 Episode name 1 Episode date 1 X
2 Episode name 2 Episode date 2 X
3 Episode name 3 Episode date 3 X
4 Episode name 4 Episode date 4 X
5 Episode name 5 Episode date 5 X
Total 3 2

Under this you can still maintain the clarity of who won which episodes, however it shows everything in chronological order. Thoughts? - GalatzTalk 17:21, 10 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since there were no comments in either direction, I converted the table with this edit [1]. - GalatzTalk 19:34, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

new(er) seasons (after 2015)[edit]

There reads: "The following season started airing in June 2018.[2] On February 4, 2019, HGTV announced a new order of 26 episodes for premiering season 15 on November 18, 2019.[3][4]"
Should that mean the seasons table below is missing 2 seasons? As I get it, at least 1 season is missing there. Though quick googling tells me only the series would be back in 2021, nothing about 2018 or 2019. 86.115.126.204 (talk) 08:50, 19 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
