How well known?[edit]

Obituaries are always very flattering to their subject. Whilst the description in use is one from a cited newspaper obituary, would anyone object if the statement ". . .was one of the most well known figures in modern British conservation." is toned down a little and modified to ". . .was a well-respected figure in modern British conservation" ?? This is a lot closer to the fact, though I recognise it would be hard to cite a reference which stated categorically that he was "not one of the most well-known figures"!
