this page is not usuful for citing or as a resource. Too many students try to get their stupid opinion in these pages, which makes it not good.

Jerry Matos Termination[edit]

BLP

This story about Dean of Students Jerry Matos from 2019 being fired for an "inappropriate relationship" concerning a female student... I hesitate to add it to the "Controversy section of the article because it's a story about one individual rather than the Academy per se. However, it was a story considered newsworthy enough to be picked up by the Orlando Sentinel, and at least one Orlando TV news station (WESH); that story in turn got picked up by MSN. Also, he was an administrator who had been there for almost a decade. I feel it is important enough to document here because like it or not it is a part of the history of this school. I will ruminate on this and look forward to any feedback. Perhaps at some later date I may add it to the Controversy section (which should probably be renamed "Controversies" as there are two there already. COI tag (June 2022)[edit]

Page has lots of COI edits, some of it obvious (e.g. "MVA editor") and has been a target for more subtle white-washing in the past, and continues to be with this recent edit from a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors editing the page on behalf of the principal Kesselring, to remove "negative" press though stated neutrally and add honorifics to names when the style is to wirte them plainly. I would inquire as to how the updated history of the school has anything to do with the removal of negative articles? Your response only refers to the latter when there is significant outdated information, and in some cases clearly false information on the page that needs updating. The entire page has outdated numbers, incorrect and incomplete historical information, and incomplete categorizations on the side profile panel that need to be changed. As I am not an employee of the school, and simply wish to have factual and up to date information on the page (which should be your interest as well, yes?), where is the conflict if references were given to substantiate the updates and the language used was factual. Conversely, what is the policy for verification of bad actors towards a particular page?
In the end the biggest issues that need to be changed on the page are the missing classifications (Boarding School, Day School), accreditations as they are not all there, and the history section. Montverde was NEVER known as the Montgomery School at any point in time. The fact that this edit was allowed but not factual ones does not represent your reviews well and puts a hole in your claims of white washing when you allow misinformation to remain. In terms of "honorifics" here is the verbiage of a few other Wikipedia pages that exist for similar schools. If allowed to be on one and not another by yourself, then maybe there is some malice in your editing practices towards Montverde that should be reviewed? Pay particular attention to the history section and profile descriptions on the right, the edits you denied are clearly allowed on other pages... I clicked on one link to give you a fair answer and did not see the headmaster of The Bolles School called "Dr." before his given name, and I won't read any further as it will only lead down a path where you solely argue WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS, which isn't a strong position. If you wish to improve the encyclopedia, make changes to those schools' articles. If you only wish to edit MVA (and I doubt this is your first time doing so), then that is the reason for the COI notice. All the other questions about policy, procedures, and practices can be answered from the links on your user talk page, and if that's not helpful, there is also the teahouse.
