Synopsis[edit]

The last line is unclear & needs to be edited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.234.98.1 (talk) 21:49, 15 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Music Production[edit]

T. Bone Burnett is the musical producer of the series, and warrants not a mention? Huge oversight. Needs to be fixed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.207.3.12 (talk) 06:39, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting - Music over Episodes?[edit]

Since when does the music heard in the show section trump the episode list? And if the music section gets too lengthy, I propose a separate article for it. — WylieCoyote (talk) 20:33, 2 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know too many people who would watch this show if it was not for the music. In fact, the show would have been canceled if it wasn't making more money from the music than from the episodes. The show is Nashville, which takes place in and gets its name from a music city. Music. But, if it is any consolation, since the 3 years that you posted --- the episode list has its own page, and the music list has its own page. The main article is more about the show now. 2601:983:8001:3540:6552:64F2:55A6:E1E9 (talk) 12:58, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Real voices or voice actors?[edit]

Is there any info on whether the actors/actresses are singing the songs themselves or are they using voice actors for the vocals? Might be worth mentioning in the article. 85.23.20.81 (talk) 13:08, 11 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If they were dubs it might be mentionable, but from what I've read it's all their own voices. Articles like Connie Britton Was Terrified To Sing and singing on screen indicate this. Of course no singer today needs to have a superb voice with autotune added to every track. Everyone can sound like the Everly Brothers these days. What about the guitar players etc? As a player myself, I have to say it looks like most can play, if not all of them. Can anyone confirm please? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.26.167.228 (talk) 07:08, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To answer all of the questions
The actors are singing. Of course there is 'studio magic' being done. That doesn't mean that it is all fake, it just means that 'dry' vocals are ever heard anywhere, ever.
The actors are not (or are very rarely) playing instruments. That is not to say that some of them are not players, but it is simply much more time-efficient to have the song ready to go by full time professional players, for when these amateur singers come in. Remember, it is a weekly tv show, this stuff needs done on a schedule that real-world musicians do not have to comply with. So, not only are they dealing with a weekly need for 3-4 songs, but they are recording their songs during the 'breaks' from filming the scenes. Non-vocal parts are completed so an actor can come in and just add their voice to it.
But, I will mention, the live "On The Road" shows are not Hollywood productions like the live scenes in the episodes are. Those are real-life concerts, with real-life fans, who spent real-world money to see a real-world performance. If you see an actor playing guitar during an "On The Road" show, then they are playing the guitar. The concerts that appear in regular episodes are filled with extras who act like fans, and the pre-recorded songs are played again and again over the loudspeakers. Sometimes an 8 hour day for a 4 minute scene.

Recurring Cast[edit]

Jay Hernandez is not mentioned anywhere in this article, but was in several episodes and was pivotal in the final few episodes. He certainly should be mentioned... Kizzbone (talk) 18:21, 16 May 2013 (UTC) kizzbone[reply]

he gets his mention in the episode pages. He doesn't need a mention on the show's main page. In the grand scheme, he is not notable. 2601:983:8001:3540:6552:64F2:55A6:E1E9 (talk) 12:58, 31 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
