Mirza Fathali Akhundov was Iranian nor Azerbaijani cause at that time there was not a country or even an autonomous republic named Azerbaijan. Till 19th century Azerbaijan was a province in Persia, nowadays Iran. Akhundov's father was Iranian Azerbaijani Immigrated to a place nokhe where was under Persia and failed to Russia 16 years later.
