Dictionary of terms used in Rural and Local History[edit]

Per WP:NOT#Wikipedia_is_not_a_dictionary this is not the appropriate place for this substantial body of work. I strongly recommend moving it to Wikipedia or Wikibooks or Wikiversity where it would be more appropriate.

Glossary Deleted as suggested. Did it really matter - would the Earth have stopped revolving? The definitions helped visitors to Wiki and was doing no discernable harm - or am I wrong?. Rosser1954.

I read your entry at User_talk:Jeepday#Local_history_glossary and have responded in the same place. I think you have done a huge amount of work and I also think Wikipedia is not the correct location for it, either Wiktionary or Wikibooks would be. I also don't think the article Local history glossary will survive a WP:AFD test. I have also read your entry on Talk:Museum of Scottish Rural Life, Kittochside and the answer is no I don't think the Earth would stop revolving, anymore then it would if you copy and pasted the whole New York City phone book to the bottom of every article that mentions New York on Wikipedia but it would not help anything either. Every body of work has a home it's just that an Encyclopedia is not a Dictionary, you have chosen the wrong home for this work. Jeepday 22:20, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kittochglen?[edit]

It seems an assumption has been made in as far as the valley below the museum has been called Kittochglen in the article. This name is known from a not too distant 1990s housing estate, but this is where the association ends. It may seem like common sense, but Kittoch Glen proper is a location much further downstream on the Kittoch Water by Busby Peel. This small glen then joins Busby Glen along the same watercourse as well as the White Cart Water. The valley of the Kittoch Water joining the NMS at Kittochside is Castleglen. This is the original topographical name. It is not appropriate to assign it a new name only represented in a housing estate which does not adjoin the museum site. 77.98.226.156 (talk) 03:24, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Rig and Furrow error.[edit]

An error has been made in respect of the rig and furrow markings in Buchans. While the content accompanying the image does give an overview that is applicable to many types of older rig and furrow in Scotland, those shown in the photo are of a later type generally dated to the period of intensive land use around the time of the Napoleonic wars. This is detailed in some of the display and published literature at Wester Kittochside, and is common knowledge to landscape archaeologists dealing with old field systems. Either the description should be updated, or the image substituted for one showing the older rig and furrow to be found elsewhere on the lands of Wester Kittochside. 77.98.226.156 (talk) 03:30, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
