Intro of the article: "Nicosia Municipality (Greek: Δήμος Λευκωσίας, Dimos LefkosiasTurkish: Lefkoşa Belediyesi ), is the municipal government which is responsible for all the municipal duties of Nicosia." (Emphasis mine)
Later, in the History section we see: "Until 1958, the Town Clerk held the authority over a team of Greek and Turkish employees who undertook municipal fairs for the whole city. After 1974, it is responsible for all the municipal duties on the southern part of Nicosia." (Emphasis mine)
At the "See also" section we learn that there also is a "Nicosia Turkish Municipality", established in 1958! (Before the Republic of Cyprus)
When we read that article we learn this (Text of all the article): "Nicosia Turkish Municipality (Turkish: Lefkoşa Türk Belediyesi), is the governing body of North Nicosia. It was established in 1958 and was recognized by Article 173 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus.[1] After 1974, it became the municipality of North Nicosia. The current mayor is Cemal Metin Bulutoğluları.[2]"
As the WP does not inform us well about what we had before 1974, considering this case, we have to go to the official site of the Nicosia Turkish Municipality to learn the truth about the municipal administration of Nicosia.
Summary: The curious and careful reader, wandering through articles, may understand vaguely that there has always been two municipalities in Nicosia. (In other words, this article titled Nicosia Municipality is indeed about the municipality of South Nicosia, not all the city.) But should we expect this curiosity and care from every reader? If someone wanted to learn about the municipality (in fact municipalities) of this divided capital of Nicosia what would he write at the search box? I guess "Municipality" or "Mayor" of Nicosia.
We should address this question, beginning with changing the name of this article, and realise a sincere discussion about how to re-write this article with an attitude to give to the readers a correct presentation about the municipal practice in Cyprus in historical and present-day perspective.
