Inaccuracies abound[edit]

Although I'm not intimate with every detail of the character's history, I know that the background provided for the Overmind is pretty erroneous unless there's been a retcon somewhere that I missed.

Certainly his millenia-long feud with The Stranger bears mentioning. Also, the psychics took residence within the Overmind as a result of his encounter with the Defenders. I'm not sure what the reference to the eternals seeking vengeance upon him is about, but the character's last chronicled appearance in the Defenders comic simply had him leaving without telling anyone why (and brain-blasting Dr. Strange to boot). And Quasar and the Squadron Supreme did not locate and free him--much the reverse, actually.

Starting in the middle of the second paragraph, his history goes a little more like this:

The Overmind encountered the Defenders, and during the course of that encountered his collective mind was "overwritten" by that of six earthly psychics, essentially creating a new entity within the Overmind's body. This new Overmind remained with the Defenders as an ally for a brief time, but departed abruptly for reasons that were never fully explained.

Years later, the Squadron Supreme crossed over from their dimension to that of universe-616. Their mental presence inadvertantly awakened the dormant collective mind within the Overmind, who at the time was wandering the earth as an amnesiac derelict. He seized control of their minds once more and used them as soldiers in an assault on The Stranger's laboratory world. Due to the intervention of Quasar, the Overmind lost this battle and seemingly perished.
