GA Review[edit]

Images

  • The article is rather image-heavy, and I don't think they're all necessary. It would probably be best to remove maybe three or four images from the article text and move to the gallery. Images like the Longspee Charter may not need an image because as far as readers can tell, it looks like parchment and doesn't really help illustrate the city.

References

History

  • "The Danes invaded England again in 1015; Canute the Great led his fleet to Poole Harbour and occupied Brownsea Island, which he used as a base to raid and sack Wareham."
    • So... did the area stay under Viking control?
  • This section is a bit dense. You may want to cut out the information about the present day (like the bridges) and move that to transportation.

Geogrpahy

  • "Poole merges with several other towns to form the South East Dorset conurbation which has a combined population of 445,000 forming one of the South Coast's major urban areas.[52]"
    • Isn't this demographics?

Overall, this is a truly excellent article. Once the few items above are fixed, I have no problem promoting to GA status. If you're planning on going on to FA (which I have no doubt this article should), I would recommend an extensive peer review first; sometimes the article gets a little bit off track (like describing the areas patrolled by the U.S. cutters during WWII, for example). Focusing and tightening the text is key. You will also need to probably find alternative sources for a number of the commercial websites currently used as they more than likely will not pass muster at FAC! Good luck with the article in the future. Best, epicAdam (talk) 05:48, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your swift and helpful review and your improvements to the article. Hopefully I have now fixed all the issues listed above. BarretBonden (talk) 17:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
