I was only faintly familiar with the Prophet Omega before finding this article, via Adrian Belew. Since digging deeper, I wonder if there are any fans of The Allman Brothers Band who may be aware of sources particular to that band. Kirk West, ABB roadie/"tour mystic", has made stage introductions of Gov't Mule on numerous occasions (making appearances on at least two live albums, Live... With a Little Help from Our Friends and Mulennium). These introductions appear to always begin with "Friends, seen and unseen", and in general take a tone similar to what I read in the sources and heard in what few clips I've come across.
