Filling in the English Editions section

I've started to add the various English editions that I am aware of. (Sorry, wasn't logged in when editing the article. ) Please add those that I am not aware of. The Mermaid Forest series (Mermaid Gaze, Mermaid Scar, etc) - was that taken from Rumic World? Sorry, wasn't logged in when editing the article.

This was written "Viz Media distributed three volumes of the Rumic World collection in 1996". Viz distributed Fire Tripper in 1989 and Laughing Target in 1990. So is the 1996 date wrong? Or is it referring to something else?

Don't know what Viz did, but in Japan there are three big volumes containing lots of short stories, the ones you mentioned being two of the short stories. (212.247.11.156 (talk) 23:00, 16 December 2009 (UTC))

Okay, got it straightened out. They published the two stories, then the five collections. The lists under the Stories heading are the contents of the five collections in both editions.

More complex:

There is Takahashi Rumiko gekijō which should not be confused with Rumic World. Takahashi Rumiko gekijō has its own article (as Rumic Theater). Rumic World has nothing to do with Takahashi Rumiko gekijō. Takahashi Rumiko gekijō consists of three volumes in Japan, and at least the first two have been published in the United States. Since at least 2006, there has been one new story published once a year, so presumably there will be a fourth volume published once there are enough stories for it. Seems that some information about this publication has sneaked in here, although it doesn't belong in this article.

There is Takahashi Rumiko tampenshū consisting of three volumes published in the 1980s.

There is Takahashi Rumiko kessaku tampenshū consisting of three volumes published in the 1990s. As far as I know, Takahashi Rumiko kessaku tampenshū contains all of the stories collected in Takahashi Rumiko tampenshū (but possibly in a different order), plus some extra stories. The Takahashi Rumiko kessaku tampenshū volumes seem to have more pages than the Takahashi Rumiko tampenshū volumes.

In the United States Viz published three (?) volumes of Rumic World. These are identical to either Takahashi Rumiko tampenshū or Takahashi Rumiko kessaku tampenshū (not sure which one). (212.247.11.156 (talk) 22:51, 18 December 2009 (UTC))

Well, I think it's safe to assume that the Stories section was taken from the English editions. Which of the two do the list of stories match? Dmforcier (talk) 17:54, 21 December 2009 (UTC)

I've done a lot of cleaning up today:

• I removed a lot of things about Rumic Theater which doesn't belong here.
• I added the titles and order of stories from two different Japanese editions. It seems that all editions use different orders of the stories, but the stories might be the same (I didn't bother checking).
• Added information about "One or Double". It's labelled as "Rumic World" in Japan, so it belongs here. On the other hand, the section about the US edition mentions "Rumic Theater", so maybe something is wrong in the US section. Again, the story order appears to differ.

However, the matter of Takahashi short stories seems to be very complex. Basically, it seems that they can be split into three sets:

• Self-published comics. Very hard to find, and they all seem to be from long ago. Some of the appear to have been collected in some kind of collection of stories. I've sometimes seen them sell on Yahoo Japan Auctions for 50-100,000 yen per volume. Too expensive for me, so I don't have any of them and so I don't know much about them.
• Annual Big Comic Original comics. One short story per year since 1987 (except for 1989 which got no story). This is what is currently listed as Rumic Theater, and many editions of the collection volumes also use that name.
• Other stories, including a 1980 Big Comic Original story: Fūfu (ふうふ) (note that Rumic Theater didn't start until 1987). There's a list of them on Japanese Wikipedia, but it appears to be incomplete (I found a different site mentioning one story I can't find in that list). The numbered Rumic World volumes contains most of the ones made up to 1984, while One or Double contains one 1978 story skipped in the numbered volumes as well as most stories made between 1985 and 1994. There appears to be a compilation called "Dust Spurt", published only in Japan, which predates all Rumic World stuff, partially overlapping with Rumic World, but also containing (as far as I've found out) two stories not included in Rumic World, including one missing from Japanese Wikipedia's list. There are also a few stories which only appear to have been published in magazines. Needs more research. Stefan2 (talk) 19:01, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

What's wrong with the Japanese Editions section?

Someone has flagged it with "inconsistent with XYZ site", but very few readers of the English Wikipedia can read Japanese. So would someone please explain what is inconsistent?
