Partial page protection

  • Who thinks this page needs partial protection? There are mostly vandalism edits. As inconvenient as it may sound, an anonymous user can use the talk page, and ask for the quoted text to be moved to the article. I don't like the idea of making something that inconvenient, but there is mostly vandalism.

Combo Guard

Westbrook is listed a a point guard (like Paul, Rondo or Nash), when he is clearly a combo guard (like Iverson, Arenas or Anfernee Hardaway). He runs the ofensive of his team, but he has a shoot-first mentality. He also combines the skills of a PG and a SG. I ´ve tried to change that, but my changes were reverted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.130.184.185 (talk) 15:07, 28 January 2013 (UTC)

If anything, there was discussion to just list players as G/F/C at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_National_Basketball_Association/Archive_21#Player_position_revisted. It really takes prose to discuss a player's role, as more and more players are interchangeable. In Westbrook's case, I think most sources call him a point guard that plays a combo guard style.—Bagumba (talk) 19:18, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
and wouldn´t it be better, if he would just be listed as G? in that case, no one could argue that the role is incorrect — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.174.142.101 (talk) 14:53, 31 January 2013 (UTC)
I think that's what he meant. I agree; it's helpful to use the more generic terms. Zagalejo^^^ 17:30, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

Endorsements section unnecessary

I think its unnecessary to have an endorsements section. It's un-encyclopedic. Sidelight12 Talk 23:35, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Fixed it. I removed which shoes someone wore in a game, which was advertisement or setting a fashion trend. I otherwise don't care whether this section stays. Sidelight12 Talk 00:48, 27 April 2013 (UTC)

Update his 2016-17 season stats so far

I just created my account so I have neither been active for four days nor edited 10 articles, to be able to edit a semi-protected page as this sadly. Hence I will put the necessary information below:

MPG 34.9 PPG 31.8 RPG 9.6 APG 10.5 BPG 0.3 SPG 1.4 PFPG 2.5 (= Personal fouls per game) TOPG 5.3

FGM 10.6 FGA 23.8 FG% 44.4%

3PM 1.9 3PA 5.6 3P% 33.7%

FGM 8.8 Free Throws Made FGA 10.8 Free Throws Attempted FT% 80.9%

This is fresh info from ESPN, as of November 24th, 19:43 (Swedish time). You can check the source here http://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/3468/russell-westbrook. He will play tomorrow (Friday the 25th) so you may want to revisit the ESPN link to get the newest info if you read this after the 25th.

Hopefully someone can make this happen.

@Habbelicious: Are you referring to updating the stats table? If so, typically, the stats tables are updated at the end of each season as no one is usually willing to keep them updated regularly throughout the season. DaHuzyBru (talk) 05:58, 25 November 2016 (UTC)

Records.

He has since had another triple-double. Surpassing Lebrun James and bringing his total to 46. He is the only person to average a triple-double this late into the season. Wlyman0404 (talk) 06:45, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Coming up short edit

In the "Coming up short" section there is some incorrect information.

"The Thunder subsequently advanced to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since 2012"

is incorrect. The Thunder faced the San Antonio Spurs in the western conference finals in the 2014 playoffs. In think the original author meant the NBA Finals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:CDD1:610:797D:ED9D:A73B:C715 (talk) 21:53, 16 January 2017 (UTC)

Little Details!

Hi! Great article, but while looking up stats on Russ, I noticed different sites noted him at different weights. If you generallly google him, he is 187 lbs. Perhaps this article's listed weight of him being 200 lbs is from NBA (they are known for hiking up players' weights and heights). If you notice, on another page under the NBA website, he is also listed as 190 lbs. Also, since I cannot make an edit to the main article, could someone add that he was just recently selected for his sixth NBA All Star Game appearance (2017)?

Thanks for taking the time to read this! First wikipedia edit for my class! (:

Rrrupley (talk) 08:53, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

@Rrrupley: Firstly, the infobox field has "listed height" and "listed weight", not "true height" or "true weight". NBA.com, the official source for heights and weights, lists Westbrook as 6'3" and 200 lbs [1]. Other prominent sites also list 6'3" and 200 lbs, including Basketball-Reference, ESPN and Yahoo. There is no discrepancy amongst the big-name sources, so I'm not sure what you are referring to. Secondly, Westbrook has not been named an All-Star yet. Only the starters have been announced and Westbrook missed out to Stephen Curry and James Harden for a West guard spot. DaHuzyBru (talk) 09:32, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
@DaHuzyBru: Oh, it was for sure going to happen (; but okay it has been "officially" announced now! (: Rrrupley (talk) 19:11, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

He is the only player to have recorded a perfect triple-double in NBA history.[1][2]

Reason: Without references, casual fans who visit this page won't know what a "perfect triple-double" is. 71.166.54.158 (talk) 02:31, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

I have removed the sentence all together from the lead. It's too trivial and feels out of place. The perfect TD is discussed in detail in the prose. DaHuzyBru (talk) 03:37, 26 March 2017 (UTC)

MR. TRIPLE DOUBLE

Russ's bio now says Russell MR. TRIPLE DOUBLE Westbrook. While this is true and in good faith, this isn't Wikipedia's standard, so it should be reverted. 73.65.226.228 (talk) 23:45, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Westbrook and Durant scoring 40+ points in a game.

Greetings. A few months ago, I noticed that both Durant's and Westbrook's pages stated that their October 30, 2015 game against the Orlando Magic was the first time two pair of teammates scored 40+ points since Jordan and Pippen did it in the 1995-1996 season. This is wrong as they achieved this feat twice during the 2011-2012 season. This error was mostly fixed on Durant's page but it still exists in Westbrook's page. I'll link what I said at that time since I'll simply be repeating myself.

Russell Westbrook trade to the Rockets

Hi, fellow Wikipedia users. Today I saw a news page that Russell Westbrook revealed a trade to the Rockets in his own comedy show. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LilKoolAid56 (talkcontribs) 22:26, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

We are aware of the trade, however, standard policy per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sports/Handling_sports_transactions recommends not changing infoboxes and the article until transactions / trades are official. "Official" means an official announcement by the team, or by a team source. Natg 19 (talk) 23:11, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Russel Westbrook has been traded to the LA Lakers! Also to the editors saying “ We need a reliable sources “ y’all are brain dead like seriously. It’s been posted all over the news and NBA. Also when I looked back to when he got traded to the Rockets. NO ONE ASKED FOR A RELIABLE SOURCE. Also Adrian Wojnarowski is a RELIABLE SOURCE. I know that the Trade would only be finalized by August 6th, I want to add the trade section to be prepared for the edits of the trade once August 6th comes. ~ 02:55, 1 August 2021 (UTC)— Preceding unsigned comment added by WIZ*ONEI (talkcontribs)

Russell Westbrook

Russell is a laker Imwalterpaytonlol (talk) 19:44, 1 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there. As was stated earlier, nobody has spoken on the record (WP:RSBREAKING, WP:SPORTSTRANS), and they are unlikely to until Aug 6 at the earliest. The Free Agency Moratorium is a negotiation period from Aug. 2-6 in which teams may not sign most free agents or make trades ... Any deals struck during the moratorium period are characterized as agreements, but do not count toward team salary and are not binding for the player or team. Either side can back out in this situation — a scenario that took place in 2015 when DeAndre Jordan reneged on his verbal agreement with the Dallas Mavericks to instead re-sign with the then-incumbent LA Clippers.[5] The current version of Kuzma shows him as a Laker. However, volunteers boldly edit, so pages can change.
P.S. Instead of starting a dedicated section each post, please thread your posts instead. Thanks.

Edit Russell Westbrook's team on wiki to the Los Angeles Lakers 5 August 2021

Russell Westbrook is a Los Angeles Laker. While the trade doesn't become official till August 6th, due to the salary cap not becoming official yet, the trade seems to be set in stone and should be reflected on Westbrook's wiki page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Supermariorobot987 (talkcontribs) 16:28, 5 August 2021 (UTC)

See multiple threads above. There's a reason that even Westbrook doesn't come out and directly say it.—Bagumba (talk) 16:51, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
