Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it is about an active tennis player who is playing and winning matches on the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Tour. Ms. Stephanie also won an International Tennis Federation $50,000 tournament just a few weeks ago.

Doesn't the Biography of Tennis Persons say that a player must have won an ITF $50,000 event for her to be on Wikipedia? Please do not delete this article. It will be highly appreciated. Wikipedia is awesome, and doesn't more article mean more information for the people?

Cheers, Goredblue123

Hi Goredblue123, I'm not going to comment for/against deletion here--but you should fix the layout of your footnotes and remove the ones that are from the player herself to more neutral sources. Your sourcing for the $50,000 prize money also is not very clear (in the article, that is) so maybe find another to help back that up and you should be okay after that. Take care and good luck editing! Wrathofjames (talk) 07:32, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't think you have to worry about deletion. You are correct that she passes the notability guideline for tennis players (WP:NTENNIS) by virtue of her $50,000 tournament win. Looks like a pretty good start, and thanks for the article! --Bongwarrior (talk) 07:44, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
