GOCE copyedit request[edit]

  • Nagatsuki originally wrote a web novel in 2013 involving Subaru's ability, which impressed his superiors in regards to write in the light novels. Edited by requester. You'll have to explain your addition of "in regards to write in the light novels" to me. Does this mean that Nagatsuki's superiors were impressed with his web novel and wanted him to write light novels?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • The idea behind Subaru's creation was that of a young man assisting a silver-haired girl which Nagatsuki enjoys writing. Is "Nagatsuki enjoys writing" just a trivial bit? It doesn't seem important to Subaru being created.Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Guess it should be removed.
 Done. Removed. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:40, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sean Chiplock voiced the character in the English dub of the series. Does Chiplock not voice Subaru in season 2?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Season 2 has just aired so I think they'll take their time to dub it.Tintor2 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. Leaving as is.
  • [...] it also causes him to give off the "scent of the Jealous Witch" [...] Is this what Satella is called in the English dub?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Gonna need some help here cos I didn't watch the dubs.Tintor2 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Not done. Isn't really a copyedit issue, now that I think about it. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:40, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • In a poll by Crunchyroll, Subaru was voted as the second best Re:Zero character taking 2246 votes behind Rem. Did he get exactly 2246 votes or did he have 2246 fewer votes than Rem?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. Reworded. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:40, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Andy Hanley from UK Anime Network considered the usage of Subaru's death scenes in the anime adaptation as one of the most unique elements from the series due to how the narrative takes advantage of it reexamine the cast, most notably the him. Edited by requester. I am not sure what is meant by "most notably the him".Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • The effect that death has on the character. For example, in one occasion a death is so terrifying that he basically breaks and starts crying when reviving. In another he instead decides to kill himself to protect his friends.Tintor2 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. I think this rewording should suffice. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:40, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • However, rather than being stronger in their main missions like other stereotypical isekai stories, they instead deal with complicated situations threatening their lives. Emphasis in original. I think what this sentence is trying to say is rather than going on some big quest, the story is more character-focused? I'm also not sure if Kazuma is actually put into complicated situations that threaten his life.Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yep. Subaru is the main focus of the story. Kazuma has difficult situations but instead his series is more like a comedy instead.Tintor2 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nagatsuki conceived the idea of Return by Death under the assumption that it would help the main character become stronger with each use before changing his mind. He give the main character this "great trials" to make him develop. Thinking further about what the greatest trial would be, the answer "Death" came to the writer.

So, Nagatsuki originally planned for each activation of Return by Death to make Subaru stronger without any effort, instead of requiring Subaru to think about the problems in order to develop?
    Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Well, actually with effort. The character has to rethink what road to take whenever dying in order to survive (hence that old video game-like link).Tintor2 (talk) 16:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that's what portrayed in the series now. As the sentences are written right now, it is saying before Nagatsuki decided on using Subaru's reactions to the deaths to develop, he originally thought about just using the deaths to give Subaru powerups.Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 01:40, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Revised. Not really a "power up" like the ones from fighting series but more like updating the character's knowledge with everything that could lead to his previous death. As a result, the author says that Subaru has to pass "trials" kinda like a horror game where some players gain clues by losing lives.Tintor2 (talk) 18:01, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Done. Reworded, should sound clearer. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:11, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • While gathering an evacuation [...] This is unclear. Is he gathering a team to help evacuate?Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
 Done without further input. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 04:16, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looking forward to your answers, Tintor2. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:53, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
