Name on maps[edit]

As a geographical feature it's reasonable to expect that people will want to go and see it, so if it's shown on reliable maps as "Back Water" then that ought to be mentioned in the article. What the Ordnance Survey have said (reference?) they may do in the future isn't relevant. Louis Knee (talk) 15:55, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The waterway is *a* backwater, but it is known locally as the "Swift Ditch" and has been for centuries. Asking a local resident the way to the Back Water of the river Thames, would probably elicit the response "which one?".--TedColes (talk) 07:19, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
