Indian or "Persian"?[edit]

According to many sources I have read that he was of Persian origins and was born in Iran? http://tv.yahoo.com/gabrielle-anwar/contributor/31122 http://www.answers.com/topic/tariq-anwar-film-editor?cat=entertainment

Photograph of him looks very Indian. Having grown up in India post British occupation. There were ANglo Indians who looked very, very European in looks, offspring, Gabrielle Anwar who looks more western.

Many Iranian website incorrectly make reference to well known Indian personalities as Iranians. This is weird!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.67.93.81 (talk) 02:30, 3 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to his daughter's bio, "Her father was the Lebanese born Tariq Anwar who was also an award winning film editor. " —WWoods (talk) 00:11, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Case and example of Iranian website using Asian Indian Nationals as their own - Freddy Mercury born Farokh Bomi Bulsara is a Parsi from India. Yes, it is true that Mr Mercury did not want his ancestry known; however, he is not Iranian as their websites claim him to be just like Tariq Anwar. Mr Anwar's photograph clearly indicates more of an Asian Indian look than Middle Eastern/Iranian/Arab outlook!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.119.198.232 (talk) 23:12, 22 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bio Policy[edit]

Please see clearly WP:BLPCAT. As it extends to ethnic and religious categorization. Which unless is declared by the living or dead person shall not be recorded against their name. Let alone 4 categories dedicated to it. You have to wonder. It is not the job of editors to assume people's identity based on criteria other than WP:RELYInayity (talk) 22:58, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
