After The Ark[edit]

https://www.electricnow.tv/ has a video podcast named After The Ark, which airs the same week as the related Syfy episode. I thought it is worth mentioning. Same production company as The Ark: Electric Entertainment. Rbroekhu (talk) 05:19, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Only worth mentioning if it's covered by secondary sources. In general, "aftershows" are only worth mentioning if they themselves are discussed by independent sources. Otherwise, it's WP:UNDUE. It could be added as an 'External link', I suppose. --IJBall (contribstalk) 15:00, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They are both produced by Electric Entertainment, just not airing back-to-back on Syfy. Almost the same thing intention as The Walking Dead and accompanying talkshow Talking Dead, just on a much smaller budget. Electric Entertainment also uploaded the podcast to youtube. I found the podcasts on the Electric Now channel via my Sling subscription but cable companies don't pass that channel in their lineup. I would appreciate if you add it as an External Link, as you mentioned, so that more people can become aware of it. Rbroekhu (talk) 03:23, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Talking Dead actually generates some of its own secondary coverage, which is not the case here. I'll add https://www.electricnow.tv/shows/after-ark/ to 'External links' as requested. --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:26, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Lieutenant Commander Susan Ingram?[edit]

The current description of the character Lieutenant Commander Susan Ingram (portrayed by guest star Lisa Brenner) appears to differ greatly from what has been shown. The character is currently described as someone "who would be the commanding officer of the surviving crew". We need to rewrite this. Unfortunately, I am able to find anything that was officially released by the network, production company, and/or creators about this character. In the first five minutes of the first episode, the character was not revived and never left her stasis pod before the stasis section of the ship was destroyed in the original disaster that woke the surviving crew. Baylor Trent was unsuccessful in trying to open her stasis pod. So basically, the character died at the start of the series. In the other episodes in which the character appeared in were either in flashback scenes prior to the launch of the ship or as a hallucination in episode 4. In the flashback scene in episode two (~13:20-14:00) called "Three days before launch", Captain Samantha Lester (portrayed by co-star Ana Sofrenovic) introduced Ingram to the civilian colonists as the Global Space Administration (GSA) officer in charge of the civilians while they are on the ship. So who is Susan Ingram? What was her relationship to the main characters? What was her relationship to Garnet? We need to rewrite this character's description as soon as we can come to some sort of consensus. (The article also needs a very brief description on what is the GSA and its relationship to the colonists. It would also be nice if each episode can have a brief description.) -- 108.71.214.235 (talk) 06:00, 8 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's unclear what her role was to be, but it seems like she was supposed to be in charge of the lower ranking officers, and thus "the commanding officer of the surviving crew", and civvies. That much was made somewhat clear in the pilot. Best way to handle it is to describe her as the THR did, as "a career military officer", perhaps adding that she would have been the survivor's commanding officer. --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:18, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@IJBall:: You did a great job in improving the description; however are we wandering into WP:CRYSTALBALL territory by speculating on what the character might have been if she was able to wake up and start giving commands? Any other officer who ranked higher than lieutenant would have been the leader of the surviving crew had that person survived long enough to start issuing commands. (From a screenwriter's perspective, the only purpose for this character to be included in production cast list is to provide a backstory to the main characters within flashback scenes without bogging down main characters with long monologues in trying to give viewers important background information.) Would it be better to say that character did not survive the initial disaster and not speculate on what the character MIGHT have done, such as being a potential commander of the surviving crew? 50.231.49.42 (talk) 14:28, 12 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is literally stated on the show (more than once, IIRC), that Ingram was their superior officer (specifically), which is why she was in the second set of pods instead of the first set of (destroyed) which contained all of the other higher officers. Also, what you are objecting to is not what WP:CRYSTALBALL is – this is not a "crystal ball" case. --IJBall (contribstalk) 20:08, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Topic may require Disambigulation[edit]

So as not to be confused with the upcoming MGM Plus show Ark. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/mgm-premiere-dates-a-spy-among-friends-from-season-2-murf-the-surf-development-slate-1235483513/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.107.78.134 (talk) 05:46, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
