Sailor Moon?!?

"In the episode in which Timmy first meet the Tooth Fairy, she gives a tiara to him that makes the user unrecognizable, this is obviously a reference of Sailor Moon." How is this a reference to Sailor Moon? She's got a tiara, but so do many other cartoon characters...Kiwi 19:14, 27 Nov 2006 (UTC)

Quite a lot of the Trivia/Pop Culture dot points don't make any real sense or have very little context.

They definatly need cleaning up but i'm not sure what needs to stay. Any input?

Acctually the show isint cancelled, the correct term is ended production, cancelled means taken from the air, yet it reruns every day!

Thats all lies, the 77 secrets of the FOP aired 7/7/07. they said FOP is coming back after beiing on a 1 year hiatus. it comes back along with a new character, a baby. Wikialexdx 14:34, 08 October 2007 (UTC)

The show returned on February 18,2008. The show will be ending in 2010. In my Nicktoons book, it says that the show will have 100 episodes. Only 20 episodes will be in the seventh season so the eighth season will have 6 episodes. Garlic Knots 6:37, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

New Pop Culture reference

A lot of the Pop Culture references on that page aren't really pop culture references at all. They're actually just gripes at the show mixed in. Someone should edit those out. Something about the show "not being constant" was one of them.

Complete Seasons on DVD

No, Butch Hartman has stated on his forums that he will be releasing new FOP dvds in 2007. (Note he said releasing not making so that means they are old episodes, obiously the season DVDs

Trivia section

I don’t think it should be completely deleted, as there is some good trivia. But it does need some serious cleaning out. I think anything that doesn’t have a cited source should be deleted, along with all the stuff that just isn’t trivia anyway. I could do a part of it, I would just need some guidance of what everyone thinks should be deleted. Ideas anyone? Ghosting 07:11, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

The trivia mostly consists of goofs and stuff that would go better in other places, like character articles and episode articles. If things are kept, it should be things about the shows production and general things. Not things about how a tree was moved in one episode or how many times blank did blank. More than deleting trivia, maybe we should divide it into trivia, cultural reference, and errors and inconstancies, because there are facts for each category.

• In the Jimmy/Timmy Power Hours 1, 2, and 3, Timmy would have lost his Fairy Godparents because Timmy shows his Godparents to all the characters in the Jimmy/Timmy Power Hours, but Jimmy and his friends don't know Cosmo and Wanda are fairies.
• In Genie Meenie Minie Mo, Smoof could be a reference to drugs, supported by Norm saying he can't escape from Smoof things, referencing Drug addictions.
• Although it is said in the show that Fairies do not need to breath they still turn blue when strangled, and one episode showed Timmy and Wanda suffocating in space, while Cosmo remained clueless and normal.
• In the first episode, Cosmo's voice is different – he has a much more suave and mature voice, similar to that of a traditional radio announcer's, though he was voiced by Daran Norris then too. Timmy's voice was dubbed for re-running on the show (it was originally an Oh Yeah! Cartoons episode), because he was voiced by Mary Kay Bergman, who had committed suicide in 1999.
• Timmy the Barbarian/No Substitute for Crazy and Fairy Idol both aired in the United Kingdom before the United States.
• Originally, the intended show title was The Fairy Godparents, then Oh My Godparents, before Bill Burnett, the creator of ChalkZone, recommended the title The Fairly OddParents.
• In a few episodes, Timmy is playing a game console called the V-Cube, the name of which sounds like a combination of the Nintendo GameCube and the Xbox. The sound made when he scores a point matches the power-up sound made whenever Mario picks up a power-up in Super Mario Bros.
• Some episodes show the names of the series crew, including the episode "The Crimson Chin Meets Mighty Mom and Dyno Dad," in which a street sign bears the names "Hartman" and "Marmel," the surnames of series creator Butch Hartman and writer Steve Marmel.
• In the episode Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary, one of the first challenges in the Magical Duel is rescuing your godchild from a giant ape, a nod to the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong.
• In the episode "Hard Copy", Dr. Rip Studwell informs Timmy and Wanda that Cosmo has a fairy disease known as dancer (a man dances inside his head), an obvious reference to cancer, which makes him stupid. This is also the episode in which Timmy fights Dark Laser (a spoof of Darth Vader) with his space craft (similar to the Y-Wing from Star Wars). Dr. Rip Studwell is the cartoon version of Butch Hartman. The crew of Fairly Odd Parents added this without his knowledge as an inside joke.
• In "Birthday Wish", when Crocker is hooked onto a helicopter toward the end, he shouts, "Curse you Igor Sikorsky and all your infernal wingless flying machines!". An obvious reference to aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky.
• When the creators of the show were thinking of how to make Cosmo, they were going to make him a lazy bum, like a crossover between Fred Flinstone and Homer Simpson, and that he would be flying in a chair. But the creators instead made him an idiot.
• There was a reference to Jimmy Neutron in the episode "Sleep Over And Over". Cosmo had seen an ant, and upon seeing it, named it Carl. It got killed by Cosmo's magnifying glass, and soon, Cosmo vowed not to get distracted by anything again. He then saw a bee, and named it Cindy. It got eaten by a hawk. Once again, Cosmo vowed not to get distracted. Soon enough, he saw a cat and named it Jimmy. This could be a shout out to the creators of "Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius" in which Jimmy is friends with Carl and Cindy.
• In the episode "Back to the Norm", it is written on the blueprints of Mr. Crocker's "Arch of Failure" that he is 32 years old. However, in the double-length episode "The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker," it states that thirty years ago (1972), Mr. Crocker was 10 years old. If the age mentioned in "Back to the Norm" is correct, then in "The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker", he should have been only two years old, as opposed to the age of 42 that seems to be logical throughout the rest of the series.
• In the series, it is apparent that the magic clouds that appear when the fairies do magic, stink. It is apparent in 1 episode in particular. The episode, "Sleep Over and Over" when Timmy is poofed into A.J.'s bathroom, where he fans his nose and says "No more seafood for you!". Alternatively, it could be the fact that Timmy had just been poofed from Chester's trailer, which is located in the Dimmsdale dumps.
• The episode The Big Scoop is the same episode of A Wish Too Far(and even uses footage of A Wish Too Far),but the difference is that A Wish Too Far focuses on Timmy,and The Big Scoop focuses on Chester and A.J.
• The episode,"Timmy the Barbarian" is one of the only episodes where you don't see the episode title first, the second one being "Crash Nebula".
• The episode title "Homewreckers" may be based off of Grey DeLisle's song "Home Wrecker".
• In The episode "Mighty Mom and Dyno Dad", Timmy wishes he was "Galactimus, devourer of planets", an homage to Galactus from Marvel Comics. Also, Cosmo and Wanda are made to look like the Silver Surfer.
• The format of the Timmy vs. Vicky shows is very similar to the format used in the Calvin vs. Rosalyn storylines in the Calvin and Hobbes comic strip. Both feature a single male child with a magical friend(s) that nobody else knows about. Both have parents who leave them at home with "evil" babysitters so they can go do things by themselves. Both feature stories in which the child rebels against the babysitter's rules with the magical friend(')s(') help. Both babysitters are very money hungry. The differences: Calvin's behavior usually brings on Rosalyn's wrath, Timmy is usually innocent, Calvin's parents are not as neglectful as Timmy's, Hobbes doesn't have any magic powers other than he appears to be alive when he and Calvin are alone, and Rosalyn is not evil as Vicky is.
• In the episode Class Clown, Cosmo gets hit by a tree, and laughs similarly to Woody Woodpecker. Obviously the very reference to Woody Woodpecker.
• In the episode "Presto Change-O", when Timmy as his own mom swaps bodies with Vicky, Timmy's mom starts off in her dancing clothes but when Vicky yells out she is in her every day clothes.
• Cosmo, Wanda, and Timmy can be thought to represent Freud's three parts of personality. Cosmo is impulsive and stupid (less conscious), Wanda acts as an extension of Timmy's conscience and is a parental figure, and Timmy makes decisions based on input from the two. He also only speaks at length with them in private, which alludes to thought being solitary.
• In a Nick Magazine comic it was revealed that Cosmo's middle name is Julius.
• In episode Something's Fishy!, when Greg says "Our diet consists of starfish, crabs and the occasional undersea squirrel", this quote is a nod to Patrick Star, Mr. Krabs and Sandy Cheeks from Spongebob Squarepants.
• In Lights, Camera, Adam!, the name on the script is a spoof of Frank Capra, being Frank Knee Capra.
• In the episodes "Timvisible", "Microphony", "Shelf Life", and "School's Out: The Musical", Timmy has finished school. This fact suggests that Timmy is 14 years old and is either in the Eighth or Ninth Grade.
• In the episode "Timvisible" when Cosmo and Wanda are in the spanish room the teacher says in spanish "Where is the Goverment's cheese", then later edited to "Where is the stinky cheese".

possiable goof

Original research

I've just deleted the "Settings" section as original research. It was basically all speculations about where in the USA Dimmsdale may be, based on clues in the show. Our article about Dimmsdale places it in Imperial County, California, so I don't see the point in a paragraph in this article about where it might be. -GTBacchus^(talk) 04:39, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup

I tightened up most of the article by rearranging the content. I deleted the Crew list as it was long and, no disrespect, didn't seem to be all that important. Popularity/History mix up?

Say shouldn't a large chunk of the Popularity section be in the History section?I've pasted the part in question:

After Abra-Catastrophe!, creator Butch Hartman created a new project for Nickelodeon called Danny Phantom.

A second Fairly OddParents TV movie was made, titled Channel Chasers. Since then, there have been other specials, like The Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker, The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour, Crash Nebula, The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 2: When Nerds Collide, School's Out: The Musical, Fairy Idol, and The Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 3: The Jerkinators.

Nickelodeon ceased the production of the show late in 2005, with The Jerkinators as the True Finale of the Season 6, though in the U.S the episode "Timmy the Barbarian/No Substitute for Crazy" was shown after The Jerkinators as the 6th Season finale. Butch Hartman made the official announcement on his forum [5] on January 24, 2006. However, Butch announced on February 2, 2007 on his forum [6] that Nick has granted Fairly OddParents more 20 episode slots and that the show has resumed production.

A theatrical movie was planned for release by Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies, but was eventually dropped due to a regime change by Paramount, though the script was written. Hartman stated on his website that he would like to release the movie to DVD one day, but did not have any definitive plans to do so.

It never said who was having a baby, just that a new Fairly Odd Parents character was coming, and would be pooping in their pants. That could be from Cosmo & Wanda, Timmy's parents, or someone else.
