I'm working on expanding and improving this article. Em-jay-es 02:59, 6 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The lizard in the film is actually a beaded lizard. Beaded lizards can be distinguished from gila monster by their darker and more even color pattern and the light pink tongue (gilas have black tongues]. When I get some time, I'll make some changes throughout the article. Dave 07:12, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'm glad that someone else knew that. Kritish5951 02:26, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As MST3K pointed out, Giant Beaded Lizard does not have the panache of Giant Gila Monster. Naaman Brown (talk) 22:05, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gila monsters are poisonous, and probably wouldn't be safe to work with. WilliamSommerwerck (talk) 10:56, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Beaded lizards are also venomous. Due to their rather sluggish nature, ether species would probably pose few risks to skilled handlers if suitable precautions are taken. Wschart (talk) 18:53, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

errors[edit]

Though the miniature work shows attention to detail, the size of the gila monster varies. In some scenes it's somewhat larger than a car, in others it's big enough to take down bridge supports. And overcranking is used only in scenes where the gila monster is shown alongside objects of a recognizable size and a "normal" rate of movement would look unnatural.
