can somebody remove the spoilers ?[edit]

in almost all characters descriptions .. their fates in later seasons are casually listed as a facts ... character X is this and that, by end of season 3 she/he dies !!

this is a relatively new show and is still active .. spoiling its characters like that is just bad

at the very least put a spoiler warning SamiHajjaj (talk) 12:38, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:SPOILER, It is not acceptable to delete information from an article because you think it spoils the plot. Wikipedia contains spoilers and removing them is considered to be disruptive editing. — YoungForever(talk) 23:27, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of notable guests[edit]

I move with a suggestion that the section Notable guests be removed as per WP:FANCRUFT. It adds no relevant information to the show and just lengthens the character section. Additionally, the word notable, as I see it, could be potentially violating WP:NPOV as it us who is determining who is notable to mention out of, hypothetically, 100+ guests. Callmemirela 🍁 talk 22:26, 9 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to say yes, remove that section as there's not a lot of weight given to the characters, especially if they only appear for one or two episodes. Most of the actors listed in that section have their own article, though, so that's a possible counterargument as to why they should they on. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 14:01, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've just never seen this type of section stick on any other TV shows. If anything, they're only parenthesized in the episode summary. Callmemirela 🍁 talk 23:33, 12 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Callmemirela They haven't been included in episode summaries. Of course they should be. If you want it removed from the main article, that's fine. But add them to episode summaries instead of suggesting that's what should be done. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 01:06, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This section adds no weight to the article at the moment, so I have no idea why you've reverted my edit. There is no guideline that I am aware of that states I can't remove a subsection that fails WP:FANCRUFT until such guests are added in the episode summaries. Someone else is more than welcome to that. Additionally, this discussion has been open for two weeks now, and so far the only consensus there is is to remove it entirely so your claim "to give it a few days" is false. Callmemirela 🍁 talk 02:11, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Callmemirela There are a number of articles for series with guest sections. Mannix for instance has a list of guests. Yes, it's more common to put them in episode summaries, but some articles do. No saying this article needs one per se. Again, put them in the appropriate episode instead of saying "I don't want to." That's childish and lazy. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 03:09, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You've just said it yourself that the article doesn't require it, so it refutes your argument. Additionally, I never said I didn't want to. I said it should be removed as per WP:FANCRUFT. That's the basis of my argument. You're going off on a tangent by calling me "childish" and "lazy". There is no policy or guideline that requires such edits you've mentioned. Callmemirela 🍁 talk 04:14, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'll say remove it as the guest list is getting really long. Guest list are meant for notable guests such as credited as a special guest star, main cast member on TV series on ABC in the past or present, or non-actor/actress such an famous athlete or musician. — YoungForever(talk) 01:42, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If they have an article, they are generally notable to some extent. As you can clearly see, there aren't that number of people listed as you claim there will be. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 02:32, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Generally notable? Sure, but that's probably best left to episode lists and not on the main page on an article. Some of the actors added don't even have their own articles. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 03:46, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Tenryuu Again, saying what should be done is not going to do anything. I could say what should be done, but that doesn't mean it will happen. Add them there and be done with it. If not, the list will remain as is. Mr. C.C.Hey yo!I didn't do it! 08:22, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mr. C.C.: Right now there seems to be a general consensus from interested editors on this talk page to remove them. I can move them to another page for an interested editor to sort them out on their own time. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:40, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There should be a List of The Good Doctor characters article in which editors can expand the list and character descriptions while the Cast and characters section on the main article would only contain the Main cast. — YoungForever(talk) 17:46, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
"If not, the list will remain as is." You don't own the article. The consensus right now is to remove it. You haven't provided a single shred of policy or guideline that states it should remain when it clearly violates WP:FANCRUFT right now. Callmemirela 🍁 talk 17:56, 24 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It just got renewed for a sixth season which means if we keep the notable guests list on the main article, it would excessively long. — YoungForever(talk) 19:23, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent internet meme focus[edit]

Given the recent fixation on the show on websites such as twitter, it might be important to keep an eye out for poor good faith edits and potential vandalism for a week or two. Thankfully, this seems to be at a relative minimum. Paragon Deku (talk) 04:37, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was about to open a section about this given the recent editing on this specific content. Whether it's notable to include, probably not unless another reliable source comes along. Though Forbes and DailyExpress fall under unreliable sources, which are the ones being cited right now. Callmemirela 🍁 18:43, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a hidden note. Callmemirela 🍁 18:45, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've found coverage in the following sources which are considered generally reliable per WP:RSPSOURCES:

Critical Responses feel dissimilar[edit]

These two sentences seem quite the opposite -- that's great (diversity of viewpoints) but calling them similar is confusing.

It might also be relevent that autistic people tend to find the representation inauthentic.

"Christy Duan, Vasilis K. Pozios and Praveen R. Kambam wrote in their critique for The Hollywood Reporter that The Good Doctor presents a belief that autistic individuals only benefit society when they possess savant abilities. This is similar to arguments made by Douwe Draaisma that directors look to make an authentic representation of autism and create a character with savant skills.[clarification needed]" K Smeltz (talk) 21:42, 13 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agree with that, and why no comments about the autistic depictions?

as an autistic person, i look forward to the day i open this article and see a single mention of the criticism this show has faced for how it represents autistic people. 194.223.174.218 (talk) 20:45, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
