The title of this page should be "Thor's Fight with the Jötnar", as the Jötnar are not always giants. It's a common but wrong translation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.241.128.52 (talk • contribs) 17:22, 8 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree and have reverted; as our article makes clear, jǫtunn/jǫtnar is translated "giant(s)" in English, even though the usual meaning of the word is an oversized being. That's also Nationalmuseum's official English translation; they call the painting Tor's Fight with the Giants. Part of how we can be useful to the reader is explaining in the relevant article that the jǫtnar are not always presented as gigantic in the Old Norse texts; there may also be a reference out there for the implications of Winge's choice to present them not only under the cart or chariot, but not noticeably larger than Thor. Perhaps you can find one? I'd look first in Bo Grandien's Rönndruvans glöd, referenced in the Hedström article. Yngvadottir (talk) 00:02, 13 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
