Sources and references needed[edit]

NYTimes opinion piece on timeline (?)[edit]

I'm curious as to why it says that at 7:19 a bystander took a picture of George Zimmerman's head. Why is this listed as a fact, since not only would it be weird for the police to allow a "bystander" to come and photograph a suspect in custody, especially a murder suspect, but NONE of the three police officers mention this "bystander" in their reports, and the pictures have NEVER even been attributed to anyone actually identified person? The source for that is an ABC News video. That bystander is a witness whose statements are a part of the evidence they've released and there is mention in the evidence of the photos he took. There was evidence released just today that mentions him having taken the photos. The entire evidence is at Time.com. Psalm84 (talk) 03:40, 13 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Missing details[edit]

There is no mention of the release of the edited and misleading 9-1-1 tape by NBC, accompanied by YOUNG teen pictures, that caused nearly everyone to initially latch onto the racial narrative.

Other missing pieces: when was Zimmerman in or out of his car.

What happened regarding Trayvon when the police arrived? According to this timeline police arrived within 45-50 seconds of the shooting, with forensic testimony from the medical examiner positing that Trayvon could have lived up to ten minutes! Wouldn't police check Trayvon almost immediately to see if he were still alive?MogiDasCruzes (talk) 04:55, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

NBC is only one news organization out of many reporting on the shooting, hence is not extremely notable.
The timing of Zimmerman exiting his car was evidenced from the 911 call.
When the police arrive, they ensure scene safety by immobilizing the armed man and ensuring he remain at the scene until backup can arrive. Also, 45-50 seconds arrival was at the gate, they had to be directed to precisely where the scene was, which would introduce another delay. Up to ten minutes isn't much, especially as it's "up to", not guaranteed to be two minutes. Also, in some jurisdictions, the police will only administer basic first aid for liability reasons, deferring to the arrival of EMS. There is no need to cover every second of the event, as even if the police ignored the armed Zimmerman and initiated CPR, the heart will not pump that which is not there.Wzrd1 (talk) 11:18, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
