Toonami was finished in Latin America

The information about the section Latin America in the article is pretty outdated. From March 26, 2007, Cartoon Network Latin America stopped airing the block, and cancelled upcoming shows like Gungrave. So I suggest to add the following script:

From March 26, 2007, Cartoon Network Latin America stopped airing the block, and shows like Saint Seiya and Yu Yu Hakusho were removed, as well as Ranma 1/2 (late April, when the series ended), Zatch Bell (from July) and Naruto (only Mexico and Argentina). Also, Toonami Movie section was eliminated, and there are no announces about a possible return of the block in the region. Gamera in 2008

Well . . . I'm inclined to agree with you. However, I can see why they're in place here. I'm opposed to any television ratings system in the first place, and these series of ratings are a joke. However, due to the fact that Toonami has aired shows with tamer ratings (TV-G and TV-Y fare like Hamtaro come to mine) and a few TV-PG offerings, the bulk of the block is predominately TV-Y7 FV. Of course, the ratings system to the average viewer is the equivalent of writing out "Your dumb tail can't read binary code" on a Times Square billboard in binary code. The New TOONAMI !!

Well, Toonami started in 1997 on the weekdays, and ended on August 12th on CN. Now, in 2006 the Toonami is coming back on September 4th, Labor Day... Yeah! Starting at 3:00 and ending at 6:00. The Midnight Run is back too, and starting at 11:00 and ending at 12:00. Toonami will also be on Saturdays. But get this BoBoBo-BoBoBo got cancelled for a good reason: stupid show, no season two. And Toonami will be on Sundays too!

What are you talking about?

Toonami will remain on Saturday nights and will NOT return to weekdays in the forseeable future. Miguzi, the block that replaced Toonami on weekdays, is doing just fine. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo will remain on the block, and the producers of Toonami have stated that ReBoot and Jonny Quest will never return to the block. Sailor Moon is no longer distributed in the US, and the Midnight Run is forever gone (unless Cartoon Network actually gains a backbone and commit the brand to Friday nights at midnight). Naruto is the biggest thing on Toonami (let alone Cartoon Network not counting Adult Swim), and its absence from this blatantly fake schedule only makes it more fake. Dragon Ball is supposedly a part of FUNimation's new syndicated block launching in the fall.

And yes, there are new shows coming to Toonami in the fall, but they're pretty much hush-hush right now. Nemalki 19:54, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Pokemon!? :(

Why!!??!?!?! I hate Pokemon! It is on Miguzi already, and it is going to come on the Kids WB on the CW!! There is no reason it needs to come on the U.S. Toonami! Dexter111344 04:58, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Actually, it's been cancelled from Kids' WB on the CW (as have all anime products, including Viewtiful Joe, Mega Man NT Warrior, and Yu-Gi-Oh, which new season based on Capsule Monsters, will now air on 4Kids TV in the fall). The block will now be mostly homegrown products produced by Warner Bros. Animation, including Tom and Jerry Tales, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get A Clue, and Legion of Super Heroes (which was originally slated to be a Cartoon Network exclusive). But I agree. There's absolutely no reason for Pokemon Chronicles to air on Toonami in the U.S. at all. Nemalki 20:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Toonami's hosts

I think that the hosts of Toonami should be mentioned in this article. I'm sorry but I do not know the exact date of which the hosts changed or any changes concerning them happened. The first host on Toonami was Moltar, the same character that appeared as the moniter on SpaceGhost: Coast to Coast. Moltar didn't appear visually the same as he did on Space Ghost as he was rendered 3D. The second host on Toonami was the original Tom. Tom, like the Tom of today's Toonami, was a robot, and broadcasted the show from his midflight spaceship along with his cohost the spaceship computer moniter referred to as Computer. Tom was then killed off and was never heard from again. It was revealed that Tom was engulfed by a foriegn plasmaic goo. In the same commercial that revealed how Tom died, it also introduced the new host of Toonami, Tom 2, later on he would be referred to only as Tom. This commercial only appeared once. Tom 2 still looked very similiar to the first Tom. Tom 2 was darker in appearance and less thin than the original Tom. Computer still remained cohost of the block but changed along with the ship. Early on after Toonami changed its scheduling to Saturday nights, rather than monday through fridays in the afternoon, Tom 2 had gained a new look. Tom 2 claimed the circumstances of which could be seen through the Cartoon Network website. The new look of which recreated Tom 2 with a muscular appearance. Along with the change in Tom 2's appearance Computer changed along with him. Computer was no longer in the form of a computer screen, but instead a young woman. Tom 2 and Computer have remained like this to this day.

i have recently added on to the article and this is a chance to get some old shows back on the air! i know we all want shows like .hack// and dragonball and sailor moon! this is the time we must join together and create a time block that will make our lives that much better. we must do it b4 we loose our minds to new retarded shows

Oh god, the new TOM looks friggin ridiculous. When blue TOM replaced white TOM I thought they had realized the difference between cool robots and gay cartoony robots, but apparently not... and now he has a team of little human-eyed atrocities.

Tom has had 4 incarnations. His bombman build, his blue inbetween build, the muscualir build and the new odd look. SARA was introduced during look 2 she existed only on a computer screen. When TOM got upgraded she did too. She became a sorta of projection with hair that was white and wasn't on a screen. We have yet to see if SARA has a new Look yet.

Which show?

Cartoon Network's Toonami section says that Bo^7 will air at 10:00, but this schedule says that Zatch Bell! will be shown instead. Which one is right? (edit: Never mind, Zatch aired) --Alexie 22:39, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Rising Sun/Midnight Run

Why aren't Toonami Rising Sun and Midnight Run featured in the article? They may be short lived, but are most definitely worth metioning. Especially since Midnight Run was a predecessor and likely impetus of Adult Swim. Lowtech42 02:12, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

That Joe Boyd Vigil only composed the music from around 1999 to 2002. Before that, the music used in 'The Moltar Era' was provided entirely by skater Tommy Guerrero, which actually was probably the reason why the Moltar Era Toonami featured so many interviews by skaters and the like.

I doubt that Toonami UK's schedules have attracted a barrage of complaints as implied. Pokémon may be getting done to death at the moment, but other 4Kids shows such as Ultimate Muscle are very popular. There's no problem with using Cartoon Network shows, such as Xiaolin Showdown, since it is an "action/adventure" show, which is what the channel is meant to show, and has long gone back to being on Cartoon Network anyway (it's first and second series both premiered on Cartoon Network, while Toonami only showed Series 1), although the decision to show B-Daman on both channels at the same time is odd. Furthermore, Beyblade is also an anime, of sorts, and really belongs on Toonami more than Cartoon Network.

Finally, since Toonami UK is aimed towards a younger audience, they wouldn't be as fanatical as some US fans, and they wouldn't really give a damn what the Dragonball and Dragonball Z movies sound like. They're just happy to finally see them, since DBZ has aired in the UK since 1999, and yet only 2 movies have been released on DVD.

I wish I knew who wrote the above (you came here from the Final Gear forum right?). Thank you. The mysterious answerer is correct, it does appear to be Mr. Smith (possibly remixed a little) and it was also used in an episode of Top Gear (see the Final Gear What's this song thread talking about the music at 18:20 - 18:45 of the November 13th episode of Top Gear. The question of the track's identity is finally (after a massive search) answered by someone from the BBC. Page 7 of that thread has some useful details about the track's orgins along with this Hybrid mailing list post. For the sake of completeness I will also say that someone I know actually guessed the artist from my description of "synthy violins" on day 0, but no one I knew could place the name of the track. January 7th 2005.

A section in the article reads, "while adding a new lighter-toned action franchise, Miguzi, (produced by Williams Street, the folks behind Toonami, its name is loosely derived from the Japanese word for swimsuit, an in-joke to longtime viewers of Toonami)". An explanation of sorts:

In 2000, Williams Street began editing a few shows on Toonami. While FUNimation produced Dragon Ball Z and Cloverway produced Sailor Moon, Williams Street edited Gundam Wing and Tenchi for the afternoon crowd. Tenchi Muyo introduced a visual concept that has been known as the "digital swimsuit," a painted-on bathing suit to block out nudity from the show. These digital swimsuits would find their way on numerous shows throughout Toonami's history, including 08th MS Team and Outlaw Star.

Mizugi is a Japanese word for a swimsuit, and if you switch the "z" with the "g" (in a way, that switch is symbolic with what Cartoon Network did, switching a block that had made a mark with Dragon Ball "Z" with a block that is aimed more towards "g"irls), you have Miguzi, a name that connects itself to Toonami and, in a way, Adult Swim, the three blocks made by Williams Street Productions.

A new page has been created with extensive information on the Shows / Schedule for Toonami called List of programs broadcast by Toonami.

I would like to suggest that anyone who is working on this article think about weather it's worthwhile keeping that information on this page, consolidating or removing it.

The page is not 100% complete yet but its getting there slowly.

It's not the intent of that article to do anything then give extensive information on programs broadcast on Toonami.

Megaman Star Force & Jetstream details

From what I remember, Toonami Jetstream will be the only way to watch MMSF episodes... if anyone's able to confirm that, can someone do so? If not, keep it the way it is. Rebirth

There appears to have been some random nonsense about the "rebirth" of Toonami scattered around the page, with the only citation leading to the "farewell message" on Youtube. Past Lineups and Premieres

I love Toonami too, and have watched it since I was litte, but the current state with Naruto, Ben 10: Alien Force, and Samurai Jack (I believe) was a joke of what Toonami once was. Only Naruto really fit in.

Someone needs to remove that "Worse than 9/11" comment. 3,000 people died as compared to a tv block getting cancelled. *sigh* (thanks for doing that) Anyways, is there any citable source that explains why Toonami was cancelled? Return of Toonami?

Block Type

Toonami was an ACTION-ANIMATION block. It was never an anime block, its had pure-anime line-ups before, but those didn't last too long. It has always had cartoons from around the world, not just Japan. Stop changing it to an anime block, please. RaidonMakoto (talk) 18:05, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Mooninite scare at Boston made Cartoon Network fire toonami?

For some reason that this incident was around adult swim Aqua teen hunger force and around wikipedia on the toonami cancel, it doesn't really explain how toonami was shut down. Actually not true The Mooninite Bombscare was the reason Jim Samples left CN Toonami was cancelled because Stuart Snyder the current CEO of Cartoon Network hates anime and suggests that CN should compete with Nickelodeon and Disney Channel with live-action programmung Matthew Cantrell (talk) 22:59, 6 May 2010 (UTC)

Toonami might back in the fall!

It has been reported that Toonami might come back in the fall, it is one of four shows/blocks to do so. Because, Stuart Snyder, has just just resigned from Cartoon Network, he's the one, who had the idea to have "CN Real". I usually do not use the talk pages but this attracted my attention. Snyder's resignation is by no means a guarantee that Toonami will return.Being the mastermind behind "CN Real" doesnt mean he got rid of Toonami. However, Theres a chance of getting a person in there who wants to see Toonami back and can manage it correctly. Though to be honest I'd rather leave Toonami dead if it is going to be bastardized upon its resurrection.
