Include at the Phase Four article?

Collider's recent article discussing the filming of this special says it is intended to be released around the 2022 holiday season. Knowing that we still have Phase Four films releasing in 2023, even though this has yet to be formally announced, should we add it to the Phase Four article? And if so, how do we source the "It is intended to be part of Phase Four" line we would need to add in "Release"? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:56, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

I think we should probably wait, as assuming it is Phase Four because it's releasing in 2022, while it may seem obvious to us, would be original research. —El Millo (talk) 16:19, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
I agree with El Millo, we don't have a source saying it is in Phase Four, despite the likelihood of it based on the release timeframe. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:22, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Production Weekly Info

In a recent issue of Production Weekly, it listed the special as being titled Werewolf by Night to shoot from February to March 2022. It also listed as being the Jake Gomez incarnation of the Werewolf by Night in the synopsis attached. Although I heard it's a placeholder from a 2020 comic. Would this be sufficient enough to include in this article? —TrixieCat123 (talk) 15:13, 30 November 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, I've read the article now and noticed the info was listed there. But was the title and Gomez info not included for a reason? —TrixieCat123 (talk) 15:17, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
The Comic Book Resources source included in the article does show the synopsis from Production Weekly. However, like you stated, it is the synopsis from the 2020 comic. As far as I've seen, at least in Marvel's cases, the synopsizes given to Production Weekly are usually basic character descriptions, or the premise of a relevant comic series that inspired the project, so it isn't really an accurate representation of what the project will actually be about. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:49, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

Giacchino

Some of the unreliable fan sites have been reporting that Michael Giacchino is directing the special. Just thought I would note that this Variety article seems to mention this, but doesn't confirm it or anything. - adamstom97 (talk) 05:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)

Sounds like WP:FRUIT to me. InfiniteNexus (talk) 05:11, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
Directing the orchestra playing the music? The next sentence says "his fifth film for the studio", which must be alluding to the music. -2pou (talk) 17:59, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
That is referring to music, but he has also directed before and that is what the first bit is talking about. - adamstom97 (talk) 22:21, 8 March 2022 (UTC)
It definitely seems like some smoke per Variety saying The composer was unavailable for this story; he is reportedly off directing a television project for Marvel. If all of this is true, it would help indicate this is actually filming right now, which has been hard to pin down is the case. ComicBook.com put some of the clues together, but I don't think we could use that. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:17, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

Separately, here is Comic Circus's article (which we can't use and I think Adam was referring to) that discusses both Giacchino and a delayed filming start to the middle of March (ie probably next week), just so editors are aware of what's being thrown around. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:17, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

The Hollywood Reporter has now confirmed Giacchino as director and that filming will begin later this month in Atlanta, along with a release later this year and that it is referred to as "Werewolf By Night" but will have a different title by the time it releases. The info has been updated in the draft and the Phase Five and TV series list, although I am questioning what we'll do once it is filming. Should we move it to the Phase Four article like we did with What If season 2 as a 2022 release is more solidly confirmed now? Trailblazer101 (talk) 21:00, 11 March 2022 (UTC)
Seeing as there is more concrete info supporting its 2022 release, that is clearly within the release of other Phase Four titles, so I think we can move the info there now even. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:24, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
Alright, I support the move. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:48, 12 March 2022 (UTC)

Move?

The Georgia Film Office list of "what's filming" here shows Buzzcut as one of them. Anyone object to moving? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:18, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

I believe this should be enough to move this, considering we may not get set photos for a while. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:30, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
It's not the strongest source, but I am not against making the move now. - adamstom97 (talk) 18:47, 29 March 2022 (UTC)
Will add in the source and make moves! - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:02, 29 March 2022 (UTC)

Premise text

The premise was put back on the article, even though it's pretty much the same premise as the first issue of Werewolf by Night vol 3, including calling Jake the "new" Werewolf by Night, despite the fact that in the MCU, there hasn't been an old one.

I think it's pretty blatant that the article took the premise from the Werewolf by Night vol 3 #1 description, which means it's not the official description at all. We have no official confirmation what character Gael is playing or even what the title of this special is, so I don't understand why this premise text is still in use. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.75.248.162 (talk) 22:03, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

Logo and title confirm?

We usually don't pull information from crew member's websites or agency resumes, but this one says "Werewolf by Night" as the project and has a pretty official looking logo for it. Conversely, we have THR's article about Giacchino directing in article stating that this wasn't going to be the final title. D23 is a few weeks away and we're hopefully going to get info on this then. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 15:12, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

That logo seems to be pretty old, here it's used in February of 2022. I assume it's a fan creation. UnderIrae (talk) 15:50, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
Doing a reverse image search makes it look like it possibly originated from the Cosmic Circus. Murphy's Multiverse also used a similar image in November 2021. -- Zoo (talk) 16:00, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
Thanks folks! It was a pretty solid fan creation, hence me being tricked. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:11, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
Yeah, I've seen that logo before on those articles and others. We'll hopefully get some form of official details on this at D23 or Disney+ Day. "Werewolf by Night" is by far a tentative title if/when a new, more official title is announced. Trailblazer101 (talk) 17:48, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
And just preemptively stating, if it is, it would exist at Werewolf by Night (TV special). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 23:29, 20 August 2022 (UTC)

Jake Gomez or Jack Russell?

All internal media seems to refer to Bernal's character as Jake, as in Jake Gomez. But following the trailer's releases, he seems to playing Jack, as in Jack Russell. What do we put for him at this time? Should we wait until the special drops to fully confirm which incarnation of Werewolf by Night he's playing? -TrixieCat123 (User talk:TrixieCat123) 20:07, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

I think he's Jack Russell. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:11, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
The trades are saying Jack Russell, so I assume they're probably correct. -- Zoo (talk) 21:20, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
Definitely Jack Russell. Did D23 release a new synopsis? — SirDot (talk) 21:23, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Full title

I don't think we should be mentioning "[A] Marvel Studios' Special Presentation: Werewolf by Night" in the lead. For one, I can't find any sourcing to this affect beyond the trailer title (and obviously what's on the poster) so "Werewolf by Night" is definitely the WP:COMMONNAME and I'm thinking the official name. Second, this is covered in the development section regarding this, which is I think all that needs to be mentioned. Thoughts? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 02:40, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

I agree. Though this is just speculation right now, "A Marvel Studios Special Presentation" will likely be the label for Disney+ specials, so the GotG Holiday Special could be labeled as such. Again just speculation for now. — SirDot (talk) 02:53, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
James Gunn confirmed the GOTG Holiday Special is "A Marvel Studios Special Presentation" - Richiekim (talk) 21:08, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
Awesome, that's good to note! I'm going to start a larger discussion about this wording on the TV series list. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 00:14, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Quinn writing

I'm questioning the reliability of this source and/or where this info is coming from because no other reputable source is stating this. Marvel didn't say anything at the panel itself, nor in their article on Marvel.com. I'm inclined to remove this until this is actually properly sourced. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:01, 11 September 2022 (UTC)

I would not be opposed to removing the info until we get a more reputable source on who the writer is. Trailblazer101 (talk) 18:12, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
I'm going to be bold and remove the source and comment out the other material. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 00:15, 12 September 2022 (UTC)

Poster or logo?

Given this is just a one time thing, should we go with the poster or the logo like the other D+ ongoing series? - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:05, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

I say we go with the poster. —El Millo (talk) 19:32, 10 September 2022 (UTC)
I think TV specials are often treated as something between a TV movie and a special episode right? So poster probably makes sense but could go either way. - adamstom97 (talk) 00:37, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Because it's one and done, I think posters are the better way to go for these. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 00:48, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
