Discussion on White Collar (TV Series) Lede (3/1/2014)[edit]

This discussion is to resolve the issue of whether to include a brief update on the current status of the show in the lede. Discussion began between CXWong and Drmargi.

CXWong to Drmargi: I quickly read through the manual on lede that you provided, and I understand where you're coming from. However, I think it makes sense to apply it in a "letter of the law" way rather than a "guideline" way to Wiki articles that are more built out. The White Collar page is pretty messy and brief compared to other TV show pages. With the lede I have provided, it gives a cleaner summary of the show and also provides the current, most important issue surrounding it. I personally think it's a great improvement over the previous version, which listed out the start and end dates of each season in paragraph form; that wasn't exactly useful information to a reader, and I doubt anyone would actually read it just by looking at it. I know you said to put it in the Production section, but there's no such section, and creating a new section that talks about that one issue seems unnecessary. However, you're welcome to create a Production section and put the remaining detail there if you wish. Cxwong (talk) 08:05, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

CXWong to Drmargi: I've just realized that Nodekeeper has also voted for the same thing. Between the three of us, there seems to be more consensus towards including the uncertainty of Season 6. Cxwong (talk) 08:22, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

CX, there's no need to preface your comments with your name, nor do you discuss with, or address your comments to one editor. This is an open discussion. Before you go any further, you need to read WP:CONSENSUS and learn how consensus, which is an agreement, works. Nodekeeper commented on a similar issue, not this one, and consensus is never a vote. You might also want to read WP:FANCRUFT. While all the business about lost writers may eventually affect the show, they are simply a factoid of interest to fans right now, and don't belong in the article at all, much less in the lede. The lede is the basic facts about the show, nothing more. It's implicit it hasn't been renewed by virtue of the fact none has been announced. That it hasn't been renewed by a given date simply isn't that important. This is drama created by a few avid fans and the media, that's all. --Drmargi (talk) 21:06, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Please take into consideration WP:DONTBITE. His edits make the initial paragraphs much clearer. In fact I do support them, as they are entirely relevant to the series.Nodekeeper (talk) 03:37, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
There's nothing bite-y about what I wrote. This is an encyclopedia not a fan site, and we don't do periodic updates on the status of television shows, as you both seem to want to do. It may be relevant, but we have a manual of style, and what you want to add is not encyclopedic. --Drmargi (talk) 02:36, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

White Collar season 6 information[edit]

With the recent announcement by USA, I think that this information is relevant, and that there is definite consensus that it belongs in the article.

Also, Cxwong has suggested that this article be overhauled so that it reads better. If there is enough people willing to help out, I could support this effort (though I am somewhat time constrained). So drop me a note if there is some interest in doing this. However, at the moment, I only visit Wikipedia intermittently. Nodekeeper (talk) 02:30, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A few things: Firstly, USA didn't confirm S6 until March 21. Anything reported before that is pure specultion/misinformation from any outside source. Secondly, the page has now been updated with an official press release from USA. The previous Deadline article and the previous TVBTN article (citing Deadline) was speculative. Thirdly, "there is definite consensus". Consensus, where? Not here, where it should've been discussed. — Wyliepedia 05:37, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No "Reception" section?[edit]

The article could use one. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skulldyvan (talkcontribs) 21:54, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland and United Kingdom are different countries[edit]

The table of international broadcasts needs to be revised.

I feel that I rephrase the awards section better as well as add some more content to the reception area. Movieman191 (talk) 13:23, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: Block evasion with the intent to edit disruptively. --Drmargi (talk) 13:53, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please remove the redirect link at the bottom of the page. It is unnecessary and out of place. Thank you 74.96.166.159 (talk) 12:51, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done - some residual vandalism that had not been cleared up - Arjayay (talk) 13:35, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
