Content Improvements[edit]

I'd like to suggest a couple additions to this page since the article is severely lacking information. The current article information seems accurate, but much of it is from ~20 years ago, so it would be nice to find more up-to-date research while including a brief anthology of the study of whiting events in the introductory section. Aside from this, the following should be added:

  • What are the specifics of whiting events? List relevant chemistry behind them.
  • Give a detailed overview of why, when, and where whiting events occur.
  • Why are whiting events significant?
  • Examples of extreme whiting events/data upkeep on them
  • What, if anything, is being done to prevent or combat whiting events if need be?

Adding visuals such as satellite images and field images of whiting events would also be helpful for readers. It may be beneficial to include an image of a microorganism that contributes significantly to whiting events in a corresponding section on microorganisms as well. In terms of the current links to other Wikipedia articles, I'd like to add one for calcium carbonate and remove others such as those on "water," "temperature," and "summer," as they seem unnecessary.
