Merge discussion[edit]

I suggest that Fauna of Singapore and Flora of Singapore be merged into this page (Wildlife of Singapore) since both articles do not have much content but the wildlife article could be made a more hefty one. Otherwise, we could expand the Fauna and Flora ones and add only a little more to this page. KimiNewt (talk) 14:15, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It seems to me that "Fauna of Singapore" and "Flora of Singapore" are capable of future growth at some stage, so it would be better to leave them as separate articles. "Wildlife of Singapore" should really be a summary of those articles, and have a {{Main}} hatnote at the top of the relevant sections referring to those articles. (An aside: should "Wildlife of Singapore" cover Singapore's flora? I would have thought that wildlife tends to refer to fauna only. But I am happy to be contradicted on the point.) What you could do is write "Wildlife of Singapore" first, then copy the relevant sections over to "Fauna of Singapore" and "Flora of Singapore" and expand those articles later on. — Cheers, JackLee talk 18:08, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That seems fair, as far as the "Wildlife" bit goes, while wiktionary for example defines it as simply animals, Wildlife says "Wildlife includes all non-domesticated plants, animals, and other organisms." - I didn't decide on this and was simply following on the task of filling the asia wildlife articles. Incidentally all of them, including this one, contain or will contain some redundancy which I was personally against at first as well. I'll try expanding the article when I have time, looking forward to other opinions anyone may have. KimiNewt (talk) 18:56, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
